Interesting take on headphones. I’ve found the opposite to be true. Easy to get something to sound good in a pair of headphones (I have some pretty decent AKGs.. not the cheap ones).. and I can get a mixdown easily to sound fat and balanced but then fail the dreaded car test. My mackie hr824mkii monitors are a bit of a pain to get things to sound good on but they translate better than a mix done in my headphones. I hear Audeeze make some amazing headphones and have a dude that swears by the LCD-X.. that they always translate to any system

Agree with the headphones theory . i have a simple krk rp5 with the s10 sub for monitors, got the aiaiai studio preset headphones and was amazed that music i've been listening to for 20 years had stuff i *never* heard on any other system be it monitors or headphones ( and previous headphones were the sennheiser hd-25 wich are a bit of an industry standard, but no match for the aiaiai's. and when there's something broken, i can buy everything separately. there are up to 300 combinations) So yes check your stuff on both, and even more (tv, car radio, mono alarm clock, shitty laptop speakers etc...)

Headphones? More depth?? Are you serious??? To each his own, just do't say that headphones is better than monitors or vice versa and you'll never sound like a fool.
@PabloMessier4 жыл бұрын
That is a good example of who not to listen to, the worst adivice to give is to use Headphones, it seems to me my friend that you forgot what crossfeed is, and the negative artifacts that brings, in other words you should not use headphones while mixing or mastering, headphones are only and this includes all heaphones, they are only references guides, headphones wont let you identify a good image, you could make mistakes with relations and imaging, and no, you don't have to suare anything your ears are use to headphones and your brain is trick that what you listen to headphones is the same as speakers, if my mentors listen to you the hand you naked over the liberty statue,

A DAW cant sound better than an other ... it is the exact same digital process to encode and decode sound from a digital file. FL studio does is as good as pro tools, that back and forth between ableton and pro tools for sound quality is a joke
@ElectronicBeatsTV5 жыл бұрын
But aren‘t there differences in the encode/decode process? MP3s sounds also different depending on the encoder you use.
@wav_9095 жыл бұрын
@@ElectronicBeatsTV who works with mp3 anyway? Wav format is universal, you could try exporting the same file from pro tools and ableton, then flip the phase of one. You dont hear anything, cause there Will be total phase cancellation, therefore every daw sounds the same
@hilldp445 жыл бұрын
@@wav_909 Most people seem to see the real differences in summing algorithms - how each DAW simulates all of the signals combining and harmonics interacting. This is very different inside of an analog desk vs a DAW too. This is the entire reason that summing amplifiers exist. So each DAW does it a bit differently, though I'm sure nowadays the differences are really negligible.
@happylittlesynth5 жыл бұрын
@@hilldp44 FL studio has a great article on DAW vs DAW ...Check it out....each daw is the same. As long as the file being encoded is untouched. There are many things in a DAW That can effect this process...however, they are all the same. Companies would love you to think that theirs is the best though...
@bencodec4 жыл бұрын
MP3 encoders sound different because they are making different decisions about what part of the audio data to throw away while compressing the file size. PCM uncompressed audio data doesn't throw away any of the data to begin with, which is why there are not different WAV encoders. There could be differences in the quality of the hardware audio interface capturing the data, but there is no differences in encoding on a software level.

sadly the success takes the initial spirit away, the artist started with (and then obviously became famous through) and transforms them into bitches of the hi-end gear industry, who listen to their gear, rather their music.
