Mine just failed from turning off breaker so I could do some work in garage. Turned it back on and circuit board was blown.

@@glazedguava7984 So $150 for the new board from our local Overhead Garage, $35 for a new wall button control since the new board and wall button are a series 2 compared to the originals which were the faulty series 3 and $10 for a plug in surge protector from Genie. Still cheaper than a whole new garage opener since mine is a professional belt drive unit with the one piece track instead of the box store 2 piece tracks. Guess they say even with the surge protector installed to unplug opener, turn breaker off if doing any electrical work then turn breaker on when done then plug opener back into surge protector.

Mine did the same thing. No surge or anything unplugged it and plugged it back in and that was that.

If the garage door opener fails over time or worked then don't work or you have to point the remote close to the opener then the problem is most likely bad capacitors or sometimes bad solder joints.
