I would like to see a video about [edge] control and turns. Whenever I think of turns I often think of always using different strokes to adjust...a short guide on leaning would be great. Also loved the tips for bracing.

Ok I will add that to the list I was waiting till summer temps to do more tech tip videos but I will throw something together on that topic I use some really unorthodox techniques at times so would be fun to do..

Yes - half slice sticky hole video please! Got worked in my first sticky hole just like this yesterday. Got in, knew what was happening and what to do to brace and stay up, then realized I had no idea how to get out! 🤣 Finally washed out, got some tips and coaching, went right back in on purpose, got rolled (but not windowshaded), hit the combat roll, then realized I was still in the darn thing! I'm gonna watch & listen to this about 600 more times!

Super helpful talking about getting comfortable moving in the hole before thinking of escape. Can I ask the logic of the leaning back, instead of getting the weight forward and paddling, once the nose is free? Maybe it's just a context thing, but in larger holes, leaning back might be just as likely to backender you back into the meat of it!
@WadeHarrison3 жыл бұрын
Agreed and I was thinking from paddlers with none playboating skills honestly I could have done one hip thrust with a pull stroke and surfed out but never fails I see people go to the edge and just slide back go to the edge and slide back so my advice is in a Creeker best way is to load the front or back edge and get washed I agree if the hole is super big where’s it’s going to back loop creekers your probably screwed anyway us stronger players like us just seemed to find out flows anywhere in all types of holes and work with it newbies sit in side surfs and just do little forwards and back strokes till gas tank is gone then swim
@MatthewBrookKayaking3 жыл бұрын
@@WadeHarrison so true. Good to hear the logic. Totally agree, people's willingness to just get in and play about in a hole directly correlates to their ability to get out confidently!

Might keep the paddle a little closer to the boat for better leverage. Your arm absorbs a lot of the power if it's further away from the boat. Closer to the boat has better transfer of power to the boat.

So for a slicey boat better front loop it out?
@WadeHarrison3 жыл бұрын
No its way easier to do in a slice boat totally different. I use the hard edges and spin or blast out. I see a lot of people showing how to get out of holes and they are always in playboats but I can tell you from experience when you in a creek boat almost all those techniques will not work . Creekers you almost always need to load one of the ends to get out those sticky holes..
