Tech Tip Tuesday. The difference a hose can make.

I set up a test with 2 different vacuum pumps, 2 different hoses, 2 brand new reclaim tanks and the same micron gauge,
Yellow jack supervac 6 cfm
Fieldpiece VPX7 10cfm
Normal refrigeration hose
Trublu vacuum rated hose
Fieldpiece MG44 micron gauge
This isn't a test comparing the vacuum pumps against each other. I am trying to show the difference in what a proper vacuum rig set up can do for you.

Thanks for this, I just ordered the FP 6cfm pump but wanted the 10cfm however I could not justify almost double the cost since I am not a HVAC tech but after seeing the performance difference between the 6 and 10 Im happy with my decision. I already knew about trublu and have them on my list. I would love to see if there is any change by using 2 hoses on the FP vs. using just one hose. The hoses arnt cheap and trying to decide between 1 or 2 hoses. If two hoses hooked directly to the FP only makes a small difference (seconds not minutes) then I will probably go with just a single hose. Thanks again for putting this out there. thumbs up

Yellow jacket pumps used to run alot more Quite and now sounds like a bunch of marbles rolling around inside pump

I have the same kit need more clamps and my 1/2 fitting has broken but otherwise I love it

This was such an informative video! I am about to buy a vacuum pump and I wanted to ask you, since you have both, do you prefer the fieldpiece pump or the yellow jacket one? Now that it comes to mind, the schrader valve will probably also restrict the flow and cause delay for the vacuum. Such a test would also be very interesting.

What true blue hose did you use? Is there a model number and is there a difference in companies in hoses like CPS 😮
