Aron goes over some of the questions he's gotten recently concerning vanes and vane configuration. From three fletch vs four fletch, to offset vs helical, wrapped vs bare shaft, he goes over a basic rundown of each. Even the different offerings from multiple brands and what to look for.

You can't go wrong with aae max stealths. All around good vane. At the moment I'm trying out aae hybrid 23's four fletch left helical. In another bow I'm running three fletch 2.25 vanetech hd's max helical left. Shooting mechanicals I like a 2-2.5 inch vane.

Three, 2.7" AAE Max Stealths or, 3" VaneTec V-Max's or, 2.5" Heat's with, 3* of Helical, Work FINE for, B-H's in our 50-60 Pound, hunting Bow, set up's. Three Vanes ( AAE Max Stealth's ) W/ 5 to 6 Degrees of Helical and a 485 grain Elk Arrow shoots Awesome, in 70 Pound Bows ! 40 to 75 grains of FACTS for, good FOC ( to Penetrate,. WELL ) ! Good Vid Aaron !!!

Cool stuff. I'm a total archery nerd and am constantly changing out fletching for absolutely no reason. I'm only commenting because that hoody is quite the business.

I would love to see some Bohning Heat Vane testing. I can't be the only one. They have been good to me the last couple years. They seem WAAAAY quieter than blazers. I have been running them 4 fletch with as much right helical as I can get out of my old JoJan jig.

The arrow rotates the opposite way that the string is twisted. Clockwise twist produces an arrow that exits the string spinning left, or counter clockwise.

That would probably have to do with the nocks. I would suspect one or the other is being pinched. @@bigz5262

I've got a BUNCH of vanes ive tried so far. I keep going back to a HEAT vane. Right now I'm 4 fletched with Arizona easy fletch with true HELICAL on victory 250's. 245fps to 255fps depending on what bow I'm shooting. They run good. Just got some super sabre vanes. Built up a dozen 300's 3 fletched for a buddy of mine @555gr. He said they shot good but never got a bow shot this year due to very limited hunting time.

The Heats have been my favorite by far as well. I don't understand how they don't get as much attention. I keep thinking I am missing something. Would be cool if someone with some chops like Aaron tested them.

@@cjr4497exactly on paper they stack up very well. Yet content on them is hard to find. I guess it’s time to run a batch myself.

Thank you Aaron for the video! I built a batch of arrows this past season with Max Hunter's (3 fletch config.) and noticed that they "hissed" quite a bit during flight. I then tried out a batch of Bohning Heat Vanes (3 fletch config. as well) and those are VERY quiet, with accurate grouping as well. Arrow is a 5mm Axis cut to 28.25", with 75 grain insert, and 100 grain QAD Exodus broadhead.

@@alexbetts452 Thanks for checking in! I've actually switched over to the AAE Hybrid 26 in 4-fletch. I found that a 4-fletch Max Stealth controlled my fixed blade broadheads the best. And I just decided to use the Hybrid 26 because it doesn't require a primer. They adhere VERY well to my Bohning 4 inch arrow wraps. I can't even pull the vane off with pliers.

In my opinion, this can be a rabbit hole, that is endless.. I believe the longer distance you plan to shoot, get that arrow quite, with minimal wind drift. I'm an ok shooter, I've seen and shoot with guys, that are outstanding and they don't build their arrows. This being said, don't over think, find one person you trust and listen to them.

My experience has been that clocking the arrow to find out which way it spins coming out of the bow did not matter much for field points. Once you put a fixed blade broadhead, or even a mechanical where the blades are exposed enough to catch air, clocking your arrow and ensuring your offset and/or helical is not fighting the natural spin of the arrow coming off the bow made a huge difference. I didn't need a high resolution camera and slow-motion video to see why my groups at 20 yards went to shit when shooting the fixed blade broadheads--I could watch the front and back of the arrow fighting each other as they tried to spin in opposite directions.

The best hunting vane (quiet) is the Zingers…. They are ridiculously priced but they are very good. Oh man the visuals during your point about arrow clocking folded me 🤣

larry wise used to say 1 rev every 7'. the faster it spins the faster the arrow slows down. also the faster it spins the more wind drift you get

In my experience I CANNOT get tac vanes to shoot well. Aae max stealths, 3" bohning x vanes, blazers, aae max 23's, and bohning 2.25 x vanes shoot the best for me.

The tac vanes maybe hitting something on your bow. I 3 fletched with az-ez jig and was getting hitting my rest. Just needed to turn the nock a little bit. They are taller than most vanes

@@darkwandervids6717 no this is across 3 different make and model of bows. They didn't shoot well for my 80# ventum 33. They didn't shoot well for my Mathews vertix. And they don't group worth a dang for my elite Omnia.

@@jackbuendgen389 hey if don’t work for ya then they don’t work for ya. Least you know what works well for you. I’m shooting a Bear Inception 71# @ 28” with a hameski trinity rest and using the 2.75 tac vanes. Granted they did have to be perfectly spine aligned to fly right and not hitting the the bottom of my rest. Did have to take extra time in cleansing arrow shafts with acetone and use the tac pen on the vane and let each vane sit for about 30-45 seconds before removing from jig. But all and all I’m going back to Aae max stealth. Not as much of a pain.
