Great instructional video on the finer setup points for the 3M PPS 2.0 system. I've used this gun 3 times ( coming from Sharpe Siphon feed ;) and already love it. The Cup system works great or me, The Mix ration makings on the Hard Cup eliminates need for separate mixing cup for most work, once you get use to Cup size and material delivery w the various materials. Its effective mix markings makes a quick material mix, seal and paint gun that's ready to spray. iIt lets you focus on laying down perfect overlapping stripes of paint. I really appreciate the easy clean up when done, Remove the paint Cup, Seal it up, Spray cleaner in Cup mount , couple quick sprays and done. Remove nozzle and give it a couple of squirts, Wipe everything down one last time w lint free wrap. Done. 1.5-2 minutes, The Misc Tip package is great for entry level novice putting down expensive materials w/ complete efficient coverage, while gaining multiple application experiences w/o the traditional workflow learning hassles of doing a Setup , Adjust , then hoping for a great Spray and then that messy Gun and Cup Clean up. 3M PPS 2.0 makes auto painting an efficient, enjoyable process. It gives great results every time.

Seems you cut the tutorial a bit short. Did you not want to show us how to analyze the pattern after shooting it on the masking paper? Is it correct? If it is not, what you should do?

It allows you to adjust fan, if it only runs in the middle you need a wider pattern. If it runs only on outside you're too wide, also adjust fluid knob If it spits or comes out too slow. Air pressure controls texture

Thanks. That is part of the answer. To drive the point home: So the tip size makes no difference? We know it does. Do you use a zahn cup to determine viscosity for a specific nozzle size? And again show me what atomization I should expect with the correct nozzle, fluid, fan, and air pressure. When I paint and check the fan pattern, it always seems fine. After I’m done sometimes I have more orange peel than is acceptable (to me.) I can do a general setup, but looking for ***optimal*** gun setup. Details matter. How do I get this gun to perform at its best.

If you have orange peel, that is an air pressure setting. You are running your air pressure to low. Your paint gun manufacturer will have what psi the gun should run at. It is different than the psi on the paint tech sheet, that is measured at the paint gun tip. LOL, no, you do not use a Zahn cup to measure viscosity. You need to follow the tech sheet for the specific product you're using. Every manufacturer has a tech sheet that gives exact mixing ratios, and recommended tip sizes. The engineers that developed the coating formulas already did the work for you. Now as far as giving some one exact, perfect setting, it's impossible. Climate, personal technique, hand speed, and having a suitable air compressor to name a few are all factors in your personal perfect setup. What works for me may fail for you.

When installing the atomizing head, the owner's manual states that the trigger should be fully pulled back prior to installation. It does not appear as though the 3M technician did that, which is interesting. Also, it is a bit unclear how far the collar should be rotated - do you keep rotating the collar until it stops, or simply stop when the collar is in the "X configuration"?

Hi , i purchased the gun few nonth a go , and the air pressure wont go more than 19-20 psi , even using different air regulators , is that normal in this 3m guns or there is something wrong ? Also what’s the working psi for this type of guns ? Thank you !

Hi Jorge 👋 The spray gun needs an appropriately sized compressor for continuous spraying (13+ SCFM). The pressure should be 20psi for HVLP nozzles, measured at the gauge at the base of the spray gun when the trigger is pulled.

My gun does work like it should, I've tired everything to setup this gun but everytime I pull the trigger the pressure on the Gauge drops to 5psi I have a Kellogg phrase 3 compressor pressure at the regulator is set 80 psi my Hose is 40' from the regulator. Am stumped at this point and need help, my other guns hold pressure but that one use so much air and doesn't stay at the 20psi mark

Unscrew the top knob pop the needle out and clean around the o ring looking piece and clean the needle then pop it back in
