I have a 2019 model. The Sony XBR-65A8G. It's a little different. The HDR only works when you're plugged into HDMI ports 2 or 3, NOT 1 or 4. You go to Settings -> Watching TV -> External Inputs -> HDMI Signal Format and make sure Enhanced Format is selected. Thought I should post this because I originally had my new PS5 plugged into HDMI 4 and the HDR wasn't working. I was freaking out but this is the solution.

@@NDKMusik I got my x900 model in 2018 and didn’t realize HDMI port 1 does not support HDR. My PS5 was hooked to port 1! After reading it here on the comments section. I swapped places between my Sony sound bar and PS5. My PS5 now output 4K HDR signal!

Thank you bro, it solved my problem when i tried VRR it says doesnt support then i look for my hdmi port where it landed (HDMI 3 earc/arc) then change the settings to enchanced format VRR. And viola, VRR is activated!👊🏽

If you are using HDMI 2 thats wrong you are supposed to use #3 hdmi EArc/ARC on most sony tvs thats the hdmi 2.1 input because that enables 120fps & vrr(if your model has hdmi 2.1) #4 hdmi typically is hdmi 2.1 aswell just no.Earc

And what about this line my friend? "60 Hz, the colour format will be YUV422 or YUV420 instead of RGB due to HDMI 2.0 TRANFER SPEED LIMITATIONS. Because because in this case hdr on is much worse than hdr off. Have you tried?
