2:16 The backpack escape kit is exceptional! It may save many lives from fires! They should make it strong enough to hold more than one person and one child, though. If a parent is home alone with a few young kids, I guarantee they will find a way to bring all the kids with them out the window (ie one in each arm, one holding on around the neck, etc). Hopefully they'll improve the strength keeping this mind as well as the fact there are heavier people in the world than the small woman shown in the video.

I can see them built into the survival suits for fisherman working in cold waters, when survival depends on how quickly rescue can get to them. There have been many times whole crews have died because even though rescue knew where to go they couldn’t get there in time. We had a fishing vessel sink off the shores of NJ, the only survivor was a man that was able to grab debris and keep most of his body out of the water. There was a failure of the emergency beacon so it took over 3 hrs before coast guard even knew they went down.

About the door flood shutters, have they done testing in actual flood situation where small to big and assorted sizes of stones and sand are getting into the seal area before it gets totally sealed off. These solids can disrupt the sealing procedure. I suggest that they should improve the system by adding super pump around and almost outside of the door jamb that keeps flood waters with solid getting into the sealing couples that will surely miss it up and unsuccessful sealing it may become. Number two, what if people inside wants to go out because of necessity and if the opening sequence if the flood sealing doors system begins at the bottom, it will allow flood into the room or space. Is it possible that opening the sealing doors should start at the top panels so there is a choice or chance water can not get in while displacing people out!

The storm shelter is good for smaller tornadoes but I would want something below grade in tornado prone areas. We have been near miss a few times (in Texas and Kansas) and the damage caused by more common EF3s is substantial. In Kansas we were a major block away from a straight line wind hit that took out an airport and a self storage facility. When winds like that strengthen an go vertical the resulting tornado can be capable of erasing large swaths of buildings.
