She and her company are awesome. Probably the best company I have seen in a very long time.

Limor's overwhelming enthusiasm for electronics is the only thing that saves this interview. John Biggs questions are cringe-worthy. What a dope. Did he prepare for this interview at all? His obsession with the toys belittles Adafruit's talent and generous contribution to the world. This guy would waste 20 minutes with Bill Gates talking about Solitaire.

I feel sorry for Ada. The interviewer asked absurd questions " what shall I tell my baby son what this is......................" that is where I stopped watching the oaf.

Tell him it's a resistor, I don't get what would be so hard for the interviewer to understand, they couldn't have chosen anyone worse than that guy for this.

On the positive side the interviewer taught us a great lesson: Never let someone tell you cannot do something you have absolutely ZERO knowledge about.

Limor aka Ladyada is AWESOME! I got in to electronics kind of because of her. She makes you want to do something great or cool and best part? She'll let you show it off on Saturdays on a LIVE Show and Tell, so I can't even say how beneficial she's been to the Maker community as she's our Geek in the Hardware world as Felicia Day is to Geek Culture. I'm actually making money taking my software and applying it to Hardware. I also never graduated HS & self-taught & not homeless.

Lucas Salvador wow serious? issit due to the shipping costs? you could buy a bundle of items fro. adafruit and they will waive off the shipping cost. it may still be a littke pricey but at least you wont be paying for unneccesary stuff
@lucassalvador39427 жыл бұрын
I wish it was shipping costs.. =( The high price is caused by brazilian tax for importation =/

I've heard many engineers express concern over inaccessibility of components in modern electronics. They think it's going to be a deterrent when it comes to raising a new generation of creative thinkers. I, however think that understanding of the physical structure will be less relevant, compared to understanding of code and raw logic - things that can be learned entirely in the virtual environment through games such as Minecraft. These games will teach kids the necessary logic related skills necessary to control the nearly-autonomous manufacturing machines of the future. It's like driving a car. These days one doesn't have to know everything about internal workings of an automobile to be a successful driver. The car has become a tool of transportation and nothing more. A 100 years ago one had to be a mechanic to run a vehicle. Same with engineering. Knowing code few years into the future will be enough to create electronics. PGA's are a good example of code defining the layout. A chip can shape itself based on a purely virtual set of commands and one can learn how to program them without ever having opened one up, or built a replica. I don't think that kids who are growing up with microelectronics are going to have trouble becoming engineers. Back to Minecraft - I think it's a brilliant and nearly subconscious tool for teaching kids processing and logic. I wish I had such 3-dimensional voxel playgrounds when I was a kid.

So much appreciate their commitment to a solid supply chain. After having many LED strips from other companies fail- sometimes straight out of the box, I've been thrilled to have Adafruit's hardware I can trust! And thanks to all the guys in the comments noting what a twat the interviewer was. Jeez.

This host is a joke. There's nothing wrong with software entrepreneurship, and we really do need to take hardware seriously. Sadly, he couldn't take his own advice. He isn't listening to her and keeps cutting her off to run his mouth and tell disrespectful jokes. Stop calling her component examples, "toys" and listen to the knowledge she's giving. 🙄
