I recently bought the hp omen 2019 model. 32gb ram, 8gb graphics RTX 2070 and I must say I love this beast. Runs smooth af, it does heat when you game but if you max out the fans then it cools to normal temp very quickly. The only complaint I have is that it only Lasts for 1.5 to 2 hours (normal use not gaming ) and that sucks. I've asked for a replacement battery but I don't think it'll change cause of how heavy the specs are.

I'd say gaming laptops have a battery just as a nice addition. It usually doesn't last long, however if you'll turn off background apps and lower the screen brightness you can make it run longer. Also depends what and how many programs you are using

I've owned the 2019 body version (originally purchased new in May 2021). It's still running excellent and everything works including the rgb lighting. I appreciate the fact that it has a number pad and serves as a desktop replacement in case my main desktop computer breaks down and I don't have the money to fix it yet 😊.

Great video and comparison, thank you. Just be aware that HP comes out with a newly designed model around July of each year. This ends up overlapping with when Intel/AMD releases their CPUs and when Nvidia releases their GPUs. The result is older designed HP models having new specs like my 2019 all metal built HP Omen 15 having the 2020 10th generation i7 processor 10750h.

Long time no see :), i've been wondering where you went... best review regarding the Omen laptop ever!regarding the 2019 model you tested, did you use ThrottleStop for the UV with max fan speed enabled? did you add the PL1 limit manually, and no undervolt for the cpu cache?

Was lookung for a photo and video editing laptop that could also handle some gaming and with great graphics under $900. This video was immensly helpful and I'm pretty sure a big reason for me choosing the HP omen over other contenders I was thinking of buying like the _Asus vivobook S15 2019_ and _Dell xps15 2019_ is literally this video existing and giving me clear instructions as to what I might prefer. If you could make a just as detailed video on the computers I just mentioned, that would be awesome, but I think the decision has more or less been made at this point.

I got the 2018 model of Omen 15 with the same specs as yours. I undervolted the CPU using Throttlestop as well as undervolt the GPU using MSI Afterburner, yet there are still games that reach CPU temperatures of 89 to 90 degrees C after certain use. This is after cleaning up the vents and applying new thermal paste. What are your undervolting settings that I can use to reduce temperatures even more?

The 2018 o en will run hotter than other laptops anyway as it has bad cooling solution (automatic fan speed). I don't own this laptop and I tested it long ago, but it was probably about - 0.130V CPU undervolt only in my case. In most of games the temperature was OK, about 86 degrees. I think that up to 90 is still good.

@@TechFinds I tried Cyberpunk 2077 with RT on and DLSS set to performance, the temperatures go up to 95 for that too. don't think undervolting helps too much for that laptop. Ive ordered the Opolar Vacuum cooling system. Will see if that helps.

My 2019 hp omen with 2070 max q comes with gsync actually But the screen is kinda tint towards blue side of temperature i suggest to calibrated the screen for better productivity ues.

Max-q is about 10% weaker than full power version of the same card. 2070 mq is still better than 2060

Tbh that is a lot cheaper than the Omen laptops you get to buy from the store, and you would get the lowest graphics card and storage configuration for the price your friend is selling for. The 2018 model in the video still sells for $900+ on ebay which is still close to the original price of around $1k+, so I'd say go for it! The 2018 model still performs VERY good on any game today, running at 100+fps for GTA 5 for the 2060 version on high settings for high demanding games, and even 50-75fps on high for the gtx 1060 version. So you're getting a very good price for it the specs. Hope this helps
