Apple says that there new devices can support Wi-Fi 6E and even Wi-Fi 7, but for some reason it does not work as well. Speeds can be high but several other features don't work well including connectivity issues. I am not sure why Apple would even allow the new bands if it does not work fully work properly, but when connecting to the Wi-Fi 6E, I have noticed it usually saying "limited compatibility" so even Apple knows themselves

iPhone 16 lineup support only WiFi 7 at 160 MHz wide channels not 320 MHz wide channels hence why you can get faster speeds. It does support MLO but again only at 160mhz. Come to think of it if this is actually WiFi 7 chip or WiFi 6e re-branded??? Your thoughts
@Fear.of.the.Dark.Ай бұрын
it is rebranded wifi 6e marketed as wifi 7.
@gclaytony29 күн бұрын
The vast majority of existing hardware that uses wifi around the home is not yet compatible with wifi6/WPA3, much less wifi 7. The other issue for most folks (not mentioned here) is that range decreases in proportion to the increase in frequency. That can be offset with multiple routers/AIMesh which insures that blindspots are minimized and to expand wifi coverage to outside areas. 5/6 ghz are only superior in terms of transfer speeds, they are much less reliable in terms of distance from the routers and 'noise' in the environment. For that reason, this is a solution in search of a problem, much like the Wifi 6E that has faded from anyone's radar as pending implentation for devices/wifi consumers.

i dont understand why your comparing the bands to the wifi version?? the versions are the software and hardware linked. the bands are available bands and bandwith over channels associatted to the bands! 2.4, 5g and 6g are only usuable by the device this is wear wifi versions come in, updates to security, hardware and even software now with AI. my advice is run all 3 as most iot devices still use 2.4 and im not sure anyone will be rushing out to replace the entire iot network and there tvs, smartphones etc for the sake of 6ghz. i run all 3 and the speeds on 6ghz is blazingly fast and because there are not many access points on 6g in my area means there no issues with interference, speed dtfs.

You are completely missing the point about faster WiFi. The WiFi channels are a shared resource that is license free. Only one device at time can transmit or receive on any given channel at a time. Just sacn your local area and see how many other devices are out there..... Doesn't matter if on your network or not. They ALL have have to contend for and secure the use of the channel. the faster you send your data over the air or receive it over the air and vacate the air to allow the next device to use it, the better.

@zadekeys2194Ай бұрын
2.4Ghz goes further than 5Ghz, so your phone is looking at the resistance and choosing the path of least resistance / path of higher quality signal. I'd separate the SSID , making the 2.4Ghz an isolated guest network, for your IoT devices... If you have WiFi at your gate, so do others.... Isolate it and whitelist the Mac addresses that are allowed to connect to the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. it's not bullet proof, but it's a step in the right direction for layering your network security. Best of luck :)

@ericnoack132426 күн бұрын
Mate, your way off the mark here. Wifi 7 makes no difference to the average home user because we are all limited by our NBN speed and the type of cable we are using and our devices. Trust me, I had one of the first ASUS wifi dual band routers and I returned it because the first thing is there was no notceable difference in speed and it reduced the strength of the signal to such a level where by it affected the download and upload speed in parts of my house . Now you are telling people not to use the 2.4GHZ band .....................................you can't do that because many of the devices including the majority of security cams operate on the 2.4GHZ band , and why do they operate on that band ? Easy answer, its called range , yes where devices fail to connect using wifi 5ghz band you have to use wifi 2.4ghz band. Now I have the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro triband operating with 2 RT-AX92U quad band routers .Throw in my WIFI adapters in 3 computers , 3 firesticks, 8 wireless security cams, and 4 televisions and you can see that the cost of upgrading to WIFI 7 would cost me over $12,000.00 > I haven't included my smartphones which are on 4 g band because this is the cheapest as 5g bands cost more , a lot more, and once again why would you change when most of us use smartphones to take photos, record video send an sms and horror actually use it to talk to a real person. In other words for the average homeuser WIFI 7 is a waste of money as no one I know will change any of their current equipment for a speed increase they will not notice. I see the main use of WIFI 7 for new commercial users but for the other 99% no one will be rushing out to buy into WIFI 7. But hey !!!! lets not stop progress because next year they will roll out WIFI 8 and do you really think anyone will buy into this technology and throw out all their WIFI 7/6 corporate components ? I seriously doubt it, time for a reality check. and the reason I did not mention 6E is because no one uses it.

I don't know what you're doing creating separate networks for frequencies. If you just look at the list, every device will be routed through the fastest frequency band it can handle. It's very simple. The router broadcasts all frequencies and the device will choose the fastest and then move itself down if there are connection issues. If there are issues they're dealt with in the blink of an eye. Unless of course you've done what you're suggesting. You've made separate networks out of some bizarre paranoiathat your device is going to just choose the slower one.. I don't know, maybe that is what Apple does but, I even doubt that. Every time the device thinks it's a good idea to jump ship it has to move to a new network. It's just not likely to happen as fast or be as optimal. Essentially you've somehow managed to make the simple act of hooking up a wifi router, a convoluted mess that probably runs worse than if you just plugged it in and didn't do anything else. There's no advanced settings. We don't even get a shot of the settings. So basically I clicked on this video hoping for a review of sorts for that router. And, I instead got an Apple fanboy pretending they have any idea what's actually going on. Tech on KZbin in a nutshell

Wi-Fi has been advertising these features since AC, and it's NEVER worked. The software doesn't work, the hardware doesn't work. Then if you want open source, they don't even try to use it. That load balancing stuff doesn't work, it'll put your Wi-Fi on 2.4 channel 99% of the time. Completely broken just like buffer bloat QoS. THEN then latest routers BREAK 2.4 N compatibility, so your 2.4 devices WON'T CONNECT, all while throwing 5ghz devices on 2.4. IT'S A JOKE.

After watching this I can say I don't need WiFi-6 or WiFi-7 standards. As house of 4 peoples.

What most people don't realize is that you'll either have to upgrade your mother board that supports wifi 7 get a pcie card and or upgrade your laptop to take advantage of it. I actually switched from wifi to hardwire and probably won't go back to using wifi again

Must be looking strange when you walk with wired smartphone all over your home. Or having 4 people running around home with cables
