You probably didn't read in the instructions that you connect the positive terminal first and then the negative one. You're doing it the other way around.

The only reason they say this in every single battery charger manual is because the whole metal body of the car is directly connected to the negative terminal, thus its possible to short the charger by accidentally touching the metal with the positive terminal. If you pay attention to this, the order of the connection is not important.

@@zaporozsec1 You know, however, I believe that you have to follow some rules in life. For example, in AC 230V sockets (230V is the norm in Poland), I always connect the phase to the right side of the socket, and I suggest that in MAIN switches, the lever is always in the upper position when turned on, and when turned off, the lever is moved to the lower position, so I set them on regular home lighting switches, even though others usually do the opposite. Also in DC power supply, I follow the rule of connecting the positive pole (+) first and only then the negative pole (-). When disconnecting, I do it in the reverse order. I like to follow rules because otherwise life becomes a mess. Regards

I have the older model and it won't start the car if battery is very dead, but if it has some power it will start it. Worth having but could be better i read in some forums that this is because the black box on the cable restricts the starting power too much and some have actually bypassed this box for much better results, i am not able to solder and do this, otherwise i would also do this.

Look carefully on the plug in black box jump lead adapter there's a little button on the side/ edge which over rides the voltage detection for very low battery

That doesn't matter, that black box is their to limit the current going to the battery. And from what I've read it should allow more power than what it's restricted to. Another very important thing I discovered is that if you leave the jumper connected for a couple of minutes before starting it works much better because it keeps pulsing power into the battery. This is the most important thing when using these units. For some reason when I first bought it I thought u must run and start the car immediately after connecting which is not needed luckily. But u do need to disconnect it after engine starts as soon as possible.
