Sony MHC GZR-77D Mini HiFi Component Stereo System

Picked up a 10-year-old Sony Mini HiFi Stereo at scrap value because it was not in a working state.. the only problem was that the belt in the cassette deck had come off, so I put it back on, cleaned the stereo inside out, and now it's working great!
Not happy with the quality of the caps inside the stereo though, they have used FDAI and Lelon caps would have liked to see Sony use Nipponchemicon, Elna, nichicons, and Rubycons.

Loved the video. You deserve more subscribers. I have the MHC-GZR88D and the cassette mechanism makes an identical noise. It doesn't go into protect mode though. I might open it up and check for loose or broken belts.

Thank you, bro! Just get the belts replaced and it will be fine, I think eventually you will see 'mecha error' on the display of gzr88d, my friend had one of those and the cassette deck started making clicking noise and after a few months he started seeing'mecha error' on the display and the stereo went into protect mode, replaced the belts and it worked fine. 😊

there is a sub woofer out put in the back of this receiver. you can add any powered sub. 12 inch polk or jbl 10 inch power sub will sound really good.

Hi Charlie, I have trouble with a Sony HCD H305 which no longer plays CD. I opened up the casing and found broken belts for the cassette decks. I wonder if that also disabled the CD function like the MHC GZR-77D and if so is there a way of disabling the tape function to continue using CD. Thanks

External amp is required to power a sub. A powered sub will also work just fine with this system. Polk Audio HTS 10 will be a good match.

@@tadeadly8730 you can, add any 2.1 system sub woofer using a RCA cable guessing the sub don't use 3.5 mm jack, but the bass will be very low. since the difference of wattage. Sony mini hi fi systems require bigger sub woofer especially active sub woofers are good match.

It is really important to have a screen and a radio on sony tape but it is better if it has audio video port and bluetooth connection and will it possible to watch tv on it. GBU!

Hi sir. I found your video exciting. Seen sony antique products repairing nicely. I want your little help. I've sony hifi music system model Sony LBT - zux10d. Its been working nicely but recently whenever i start the unit it display shows Please Wait. Dvd tray open & close but disk doesn't play. Its display show Only Please Wait. When it shows Please Wait sound doesn't come even in Fm, not even in tape and audio in. Please suggest what is the problem in it. Thanks alot

Yeah! but not happy with the quality of the components!! Those Lelon caps are usually found on cheap unbranded computer PSU's. Surprised those caps have lasted 10 years.
