I just purchased the eagle flow Delta max 2 from HSN I received it on Friday, August 23 so I’m just getting familiar with it and it came with the new 160 W solar panel that you demonstrated thank you for the demonstration

Some details like performance output by covering 1/2 the panel and showing if there is power loss with prolonged heat exposure would have been great

@@snobud86 Good point.... usually these reviews don't point out stuff like that because the outcome would be negative for them/product. To pitch in my my 2 cent, I tried exactly what you asked about. (I was interested in leaving half the panels on the dashboard to charge small power station)I could pull 36w on one panel, 74ish on two (covering the other 2 panels) this was in high noon California and Texas sun, perfectly angled for max sun. Not satisfied so far

@@Lobo-Lobo yeah I did end up getting this ugh Home Depot because they offer a 90 day return in store. So I hooked it up to my battery which was not very depleted and I did not see a power pull above 7amps. I covered part of the panel and that played out as expected for parallel panels as you described. My next test will be to hook up my arb fridge which is a power hog and the panel to my battery and see if that will some how magically make the panel produce the 9amps of power promised by the manufacturer. So my thinking process.. is that I wonder if my battery already being full somehow triggered the solar charger to step down the amps being brought in to charge the battery,
@snobud862 ай бұрын
so for anyone reading along… I did my second part of my testing under power load and it worked as I had suspected. So I see a higher amp flow to battery when the battery is depleted or under load. Once the 12v ARB fridge reached its desired temp my MPPT controller auto regulated the output to 3amps to trickle charge. So what all of this means is that a.) your panel is only as good as The type of solar controller you are using. b.) optimal testing conditions require a partially depleted battery or putting the battery under load. So if you hook up the panel via a solar controller to an already full battery then you will not see the 9amps output but a much smaller number which means it is trickle charging. You are most likely to see this higher range of the solar panels output if you are hooking up to a depleted battery or a battery under load.

136 wats from 160 watt panels is 0,85% efficiency and mostly reviews on even bigger panels show only 0,68% efficiency. So great result.

I bought this from Ecoflow and tested it today. $189 + tax w/ ecocredits. 143 watts on a clear day in the gulf coast. Didn't take me long to bend the mild steel kickstand while repositioning it. I am concerned the kickstand will damage the panel when folded so I will store it with the foam packing. Hooked up to a Delta 2. PS angle guide works well.

I'm still on the fence about the straps. Are they adjustable at all? It looks like they're just elastic straps, which makes me think after a few months those things will be as floppy as cooked spaghetti.

They just make the legs more adjustable so you can adjust the angle

Excellent review, I like the new panels coming out. I saw the N-Type panels from BougeRV 100w & 200w 16BB bifacial panels. It looks like many of the panels are coming out with the better coating to make them last longer. I am looking forward to the new 220w bifacial panel, I own a few of the original EF BF panels and the performance is outstanding

glad you are going to review the bifacial 220. I have two of the 110 panels and would like to upgrade, and was just looking at the 220's earlier. The 400's too pricey for me.

So non-bifacial panels are actually advantageous or disadvantageous? Is it worth extra bucks to get bi-facial panels? What are the pros and cons?

Is the 160W NextGen solar panel too powerful regarding charging watts and current for the River 2 power unit?

@@TechMadeEzy As a newbie to portable power, I recently bought a EcoFlow River 2 and Delta 2. I am watching your videos on the 160W and 220W NextGen panels to determine if either or which one is best for both power units. The River 2 spec to me indicate a 110W solar limit and that's why I am questioning if the 160W panel is too much for the River 2. The Delta unit to me seems to be just fine. Am I mistakened about the River 2 and the 160W and 220W panels?

You have to go by the open circuit voltage and current specs Wattage won’t matter. Like I said that panel will work. Don’t worry about the max wattage, just stay within the voltage and amp specs

Nice! It would be great if they made a kickstand for the heavy 400W panel-that's what I have. Maybe with a stabilizing cross bar to keep the panel from bowing in the middle!

With xt60i there is an additional contact. This should enable the Ecoflow to better recognize whether it is being charged by the cigarette lighter or whether a low Voltage solar panel is connected to it. On the cigarette lighter charging cable, + is connected to the additional contact and on an MC4 to xt60i --- is connected to the additional contact. The Ecoflow then knows whether it has to limit the current at the cigarette lighter to 8A or whether it can ignore the 8A limit with a solar panel at low voltage.

is it true that on a XT60i cable for a solar panel, and a XT60 cable for a solar panel, both will allow all the power you can send through it ?
