I was very fortunate. Unlike Nicole Sambrano (a year ago), I was lucky enough to see this video BEFORE I tried to replace the entire cable. The suggestion to replace the flapper style handle with a metal one is brilliant. Why replace it with a plastic one and be assured of having to replace it again? The inclusion of the Amazon link was VERY helpful AND considerate. Not only that, I will get them in two days. Thank you for making my life considerably better. All three chairs in my theater seating have broken, so now I can fix them all in about a half an hour total. This site has my HIGHEST personal recommendation!!

I wish I could say yes but there's no such thing as universal you would probably want to get measurements and compare it to the one that I have online it worked very well for my couch

Having a problem. I installed the handle but have to kick the foot rest in order for it to release and come up. Any suggestions?

Could be a cable issue and not a handle issue, when it is the cable usually the couch or chair is shot

So I replaced the handle with an all metal, same size Sofa is a Southern Motion. 5th or 6th replacement in 3 yrs.(plastic) The metal pull releases the foot rest but it does not elevate. What adjustments do I need to make, before tackling putting the screws back into the handle?

I wish I could help you with that. My only issues were the handle kept breaking because it was plastic now that I have the metal one I don’t have the issue.

That would be a problem because that cable to my knowledge is not something you can get replaced, but you’d have to contact the manufacturer of your couch or chair. Most of the time the handle is what breaks. Mine has broke many times.
