I love how you slide the turntable around on a wooden workbench while it's upside down on its lid..

I'm glad you enjoyed that. Keep watching!

I have this SL-1400 and it is reliable. Thank you for your video. I followed your video in cleaning my pitch controls. The 33 knob needed some cleaning since I had it serviced nearly six years ago. Now it is stable again. You are right. These are high quality built and heavy.

Thankful for this video, I was able to adjust the speeds on my sl-1400. At some point I'll fix the pitch controls up, but it's a hell of a lot more accurate now

Ty so much for the vídeo. I have a sl-23 with a m44c. I struggled hours to align the cartridge. And now i watched your video about the 52mm regulation. Ill keep it. Thanks

I inherited my Grandfather's Technics Sl-1400. He bought it new and kept it up nicely. The speed adjustment was getting wonky though. Followed another video on KZbin to fix it. These are quality turntables!

I have an SL-1700 and need to adjust the anti-skate...do you have any video's on doing that? I have it set all the way anti-clockwise and it still moves inward across the anti-skate test record.
@TurntableGuy2 жыл бұрын
Just set it for the same amount as your tracking weight.

@@TurntableGuy FYI - I've been using a Technics tunrtable since 1976 and am very familiar with how to set them up seeing as all three that I have are basically the same. I had it set per the instruction manual and it is way off, had to turn it back to zero to get it to work even remotely close to what it should be doing. I need to re-calibrate the anti-skate.

Thanks for this very informative video! I'm surprised how easy you loosen the platter. Recently I purchased the same turntable and I would like to service it due tot your video. But the platter is completely stuck to its shaft.

Hi. I have a 1400 MK1 that has a broken arm rest. I cant find a replacement for a MK1 on ebay, but i have found one for a 1400 MK2. Would that work as a direct replacement? Also, the output terminals have been cut and was wondering if it would be better to just splice in a new set of cables and terminals where they were cut, or to de-soder the old ones and solder in a new set altogether. Again, I cant find a replacement cable for a 1400 MK1 anywhere online. Thanks in advance!!
@TurntableGuy10 ай бұрын
Not sure about the arm rest. Don't splice audio cables - solder in new ones right at the connection board.

My great Quartz lock ST-1400 Mk 2 tone skips after Frist track and 2nd ,3rd ,but plays last track well, why is it doing this and can it be fixed
@TurntableGuy3 ай бұрын
Your tonearm is probably touching the lifter arm at the beginning of the record. Adjust the lifter height.

What's that beeping? Do you service and repair turntables inside of a ICU unit? Is there somebody hooked up to a respirator next to you?

I am such a novice with this stuff. How do I get in touch with you to send my table in for a repair, service, stylus change, cartridge, etc.?

I cannot take in shipped turntables. Too much risk. Sorry.

Nice work, but you skipped an important cart alignment step, brother! Sure, you did the overhang, but there's more to it than that.. You really should've used a protractor, whether it be the universal Stevenson type, or a more specific Technics Arc protractor, meant for their tonearms.. Both can be found on Vinyl Engine, etc. Yeah, it's a PITA, but I _highly_ recommend doing this for optimal tracking, sound quality and stylus longevity. 🙂 Cheers
@TurntableGuy2 жыл бұрын
Technically speaking, the Technics manual states that the only alignment required is a straight-in-headshell alignment at 52mm. I have all the protractors downloaded for the various makes and models. Thanks for watching!
