What a beautiful turntable. Looks amazing. I hope you get a great deal of audio pleasure from it. It may be time for a soundcheck broadcast. Thank you for sharing this with us all. Take care and all the best.

As an owner of the original SL1200 MKII for close to 25 years now, this bring all sorts of emotions to the fore for me. Once you go Technic SL1200, you can’t go back ;-) Fantastic buy, Bob!

Nice job, Bob. Great looking table. I used to love DD turntables. Never had a Technics during the golden years. I had a Sony PSX 70 in late 70s. It was a higher end auto, then went to a Thorens TD 160. I missed the auto functions. Now, I have the Fluance RT-85. I would love some more auto functions. I’d like to try a nice vintage Dual.

You know it is sort of funny for the last 50 years I have had nothing but direct drive turntables, including, a Technics in the mid 70’s, a Dual, Gerard, PE, Dennon. The turntable I am using now if my first ever EVER belt drive, they are so much quieter, I will never go back to Direct Drive.

Nice, I didn't know you also had one of these! I have a white one, but didn't like the gold tonearm with the white, so I changed it out for a black tonearm to create a two tone black&white color scheme. But the gold looks great on your deck! 8:17 that sheet is called a "slip sheet" it's to make the slipmat slip even smoother when back cueing. Slipmats and slipsheets are basically pointless for HiFi use though. You should put a Reloop Concorde on it, with an OM30 or OM40 stylus - those are a hidden gem... you'd be amazed how good those sound!

SO nice ! Seriously considering Technics especially for its practicality... but... I never quite understood the sound quality difference between the different Technics 1200 variants that range from $1K to $4.3K !!! Forget the $20K one.....

@@UnitedStatesofAnalog Thanks Bob! I picked up an old Sansui 4000 receiver the other day from the original owner. Just spent a few hours going through her, cleaning the pots, switches, tuner, etc... Just fired her up! Listening to a little Rat Pack, Live at the Sand's... Sounds incredible on the Sansui and Zu speakers. The StudioDeck is going on the Sansui. ;-) I saw that Marantz you are using, cannot beat the sound out of this vintage gear. None of this new stuff even touches it. Keep up the good work sir!

Good stuff. Sonics vs your StudioDeck? Hard to compare since you may not have two cartridges of the same type for both decks.
@UnitedStatesofAnalog Жыл бұрын
I put the top of the line for MoFi Mastertracker cart on the studio deck. No contest. But the are different beasts. Technics wins the nostalgia contest though, and still manages to sound great. I actually have 5 different cartridge/styli options for the Technics. MP-110, Ortofon Blue, Sumiko with Ranier, Olympia, or Moonstone styli. Lots of sounds!
