@@B27397 roundabouts u gotta remember to give way to right and not drift into other lanes. Parallel parking, for me at least was awkward af at first but try to remember 1, 2, 1- 1 turn left, 2 turns right and 1 turn left and the reference points. Other stuff is always be observant for speed limit signs but only do the limit if it is safe to do so. Finally, use ur mirrors and indicators every time u change direction or complete a maneuver. Once u get used to this, it's not that hard and I felt the test to be more relaxed than I thought. If u keep practicing and applying common sense, u will be fine 👍

This is really helpful. We have a Y junction near me and so many people treat it as a curve in the road and don't stop to give way - you need to stop and properly twist round to see any oncoming traffic on your right. But if you do this you tend to get honked from behind. I've had two friends both flip their cars over at that junction by taking it as a corner, and a motorcyclist died there as he was doing 99mph and couldn't stop in time for a car that was pulling out. This video is a great reminder that I am doing it right, no matter who honks me.

I'm 5 lessons into my second lot of driving lessons (after an 18 year break!) and the last one was the first time I drove all the way home at the end. I usually swap seats and my instructor drives back. There's a steep downhill road with a Y junction at the end to turn into my street and I learned the hard way about lack of visibility last week, plus it was dark and raining really hard too. At least now I've revised it with this video and know how to approach it for next time!

There's a Y junction near where I live with the left hand side being a blind corner and you're joining a main 60mph A road so it's busy and fast. Its quite open on the approach though so generally I try getting a rolling start at 10mph if possible as a standstill emerge generally means if somebody comes around the blind corner just after you've pulled out they end up right up your arse if they're going too quick

@mattowensrees58882 жыл бұрын
In Thailand, you could not turn right into the Y junction like that, even if signalling right, as bikers and even cars would overtake you and complete the turn. I would keep to the right and edge out cautiously as the better alternative. I also keep my driver's window down so that I can hear the noise of approaching vehicles. (A tip I learned from an IAM observer)

The "WHY?!" junctions. I'd like to point out that at least in my country we aren't allowed to stop on the right side of the junction lane when turning left because we have to leave room for the car that might be turning right. This is intended to reduce traffic jams because left turns usually take more time to do than right turns. Truck and van drivers simply have to lean forward to see the oncoming cars and make the turn.
@ConquerDriving2 жыл бұрын
I've been in a van before where I didn't square up to the new road and no matter how much I leaned forwards, I couldn't see left.

Hey Richard, I was wondering whether you could consider making a video on sharp turns out of a junction (almost like a v-turn). In this video you did observations at y-junctions but I’m struggling more with turning left out of those junction, especially when there’s a line of traffic on the main road

Sometimes you have to wait until both sides of the road are clear. Also, starting as far from the curb as possible before you steer will help give the car more room to make the turn.

Hello, James from the states here, so, when driving, do I need to press the clutch all the way to the floor with each use as it has a good travel, or , if can I get away with taking the clutch pedal, a bit past the bite, shift with decent speed and come back out with the entire distance the clutch not being traveled it’s full distance. Audi s4 b6, 6m. The clutch in this car seems to have a longer travel then most other cars I’ve drivin and I’ve always wondered if you can shift this way.

It's best to press it all the way down to make sure it's fully disengaged. But as long as it's disengaged, that's what matters.

Something that gives me anxiety is when I'm on a high speed road and I have to make a turn into a side road and there is traffic behind me. In many cases I will have to slow down the whole way from 50-60 mph to a safe turning speed. It's even worse when I don't know the area well and it's hard to see the entrance to the side road from a distance which means I have to go even slower. I think maybe I just worry too much about traffic behind and of course it's even worse when they are driving very close. Any tips for this sort of thing?
@ConquerDriving2 жыл бұрын
You have to be strong, part of being a safe driver is having the confidence to slow cars behind down whenever you need to. We all have to do it, you're not in the wrong for doing it. You will have people get impatient with you but that's their problem not yours.

Exiting T junction to main road in a very long vehicle would it be best then, for view through both windows, to have vehicle back end blocking the traffic coming into the road? Or would you scoot out of driver's seat to passenger seat to have a peak out? Or is there any other solution other than not driving there?
@ConquerDriving2 жыл бұрын
If you mean Y junction, you need to do what you need to do to be able to see. Position the vehicle to get the best view, I don't recommend getting in the passenger seat. Lean over for sure if that helps.
