Technique Of The Month | August | Offshore Finesse

By the time you get to August those off shore bass have seen it all! To still catch them now you almost have to finesse them. Small baits are the name of the game!

I usually use the clip on drop shot weights, tie a little overhand knot and pull it tight to the knot. They break off if you absolutely need to, but fish don’t sling them at all.

I'm in the camp of overhand knot, clip on weight, never lost a weight either. Can switch weights quickly, tie knots at different lengths on same rig to move weight up or down. Very versatile

If you tie a simple loop at the end you can put it through the eye of the weight and put the weight through the loop like you would a palomar knot. Then it’s “tied” on and still removable. Stays on all day and if you need to adjust how much weight you want to use it takes just a second to change it out without having to cut and tie again. Effective and efficient.

I use the cheaper steel ones w a loop- tie a junk knot so if weight gets hung up- it snaps off& I can tie on another.

Not sure if it’s against the MLF rules but I’ve been using a 3/8oz jig for my weight with the drop shot worm/hook above it?🤷🏻‍♂️🙏🎣🏆💰

I’ve used a drop shot for years, but never used a Texas rigged drop shot. With a regular drop shot all you do is start reeling without trying to set the hook because the hook will set itself. My question is when using a Texas rigged drop shot as shown in your video do you set the hook or a combination hookset and reel?

Use the ones with the clip and just tie an overhand knot. They never get thrown off but if you get hung, sometimes it'll break the line and save a hook. Plus it's quick and easy
