my TND 550 is not being recognized by the installer on Windows 11. it shows up on my screen that it's connected to my PC, but the installer is not recognizing the device. how do i fix this? I can't install the software without having a device plugged in

Im sorry to hear you are having issues with this product. We have moved onto the Garmin RV series for many of these same issues. Every time we try to connect the device to the computer, the computer tells he it doesn't recognize the device. The docking station also says the device isn't connected.

Have you installed the Dock Software? When you plug the GPS in, the GPS screen should say it is connected.

+BRAD DESHAUTELLE Yes, you can. They have them everywhere from Best Buy to Walmart. I've even picked one up at a CVS before.

quick question: im trying to update tnd tablet 70 via dock station everytime i connect it to my pc it does not detect that its connected. do i need to have the SD card inserted?

+ZiDDi JaTT I'm sorry, but we don't sell the Tablet 70, so I'm not sure. We have the Tablet 80 and to update it we don't have to connect it to our PC. The tablet tells us when we need an update, and we update it while connected to WiFi. I hope this helps.

The maps in Rand McNally include the US, Canada, and parts of Mexico. There is no way to change the maps to include other areas, that I am aware of. You can call Rand McNally support to be sure though. Their number is 1-800-333-0136.

Hi Lee, I am not sure what the issue would be there. There is a reset button on the back of the 7730 that you can press for 5 seconds with a paper clip. This should reboot things and you can check it out from there.

The newer map updates are actually larger than your remaining internal storage which is why they allow for an SD card. The 7720 has 8 GB of internal storage, I believe, but you can add an additional 8+ GB of storage and you won't have that issue again.

+BRAD DESHAUTELLE There is a micro SD slot on the side of the unit where you will insert the card. Once it is inserted, you should be able to do the update.

When Rand McNally puts out a new map update, you will see a notification in the upper left hand of the tablet. You will be able to choose when you would like to download the update, as you will need to be connected to high speed internet. You may see a screen that says your map is out of date when you open the GPS, but until the notification is available in the upper left hand corner, it has not been released from Rand McNally.
