Definitely Noctua are the best imho. You can't go wrong with the Noctua DH-15. However, size can be a problem in the case and could get in the way of your memory. I know LInus Tech Tips, did a really good analysis on these as well, and also settled with air cooling.

I’m paranoid about water cooling. Leaks, broken parts and no idea what broke? NOPE! Air cooler but know your workflows/ project required specs for cpu. I been using Arctic cooling air coolers for 11 years. No regrets but would be tempted to go with Noctua Ndh15 all black. Both brands I respect but I want future proof and ease of mind from air cooling my ryzen 3900x

Mugen 5 Black, with a Wind Snail focused air fan; my 5950x runs superbly in DaVinci Resolve 17.4, and MMO gaming.

@@theTechNotice the Mugen comes with a stock fan. Because of a comment on another channel, I took the advise and additionally bought the Wind Snail fan. As I’m using the Fractal Torrent case; which comes with 5 excellent intake fans (and really doesn’t need an exhaust fan) I used the stock fan from the Mugen as an exhaust. Anyone wanting an air cooler, I’d recommend this set up without hesitation.

All of these recommended coolers are dope. In terms of Threadripper coolers, there is also the Icegiant ProSiphon Elite! It can seem like a premium price, but if you pay anyway for a threadripper, this one is deffinitely worth checking out!

I'm using a Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 for my 3960x, it produces a bit of noise but in my opinion one of the best options for longevity / performance and price 👍🏻

So after buying 6 case fans and a bigger air cooler with a fan of course (7 total). I was like wait 2 of the exhaust fans can be replace by the aio radiator, and the cooler and fan as well. To go aio is $10 more , would be my 1st aio build so just really thinking about it.

If I install a larger air cooler than needed on a low tdp cpu will that translate into less fan noise? Example: Say I want to do a i5 12600K build and I use a Dark Rock 4 instead of a Pure Rock Slim 2. Which one will cool the cpu better? or does it make a difference at all since both can handle the tdp of the cpu?

aio runs dry eventually and have to be replaced. an air cooler will never die.
