Zoom and Pan with Animations in Camtasia 2020

We dont need to download screen recorders and video editors and record screen, than go to video editor and edit. Some have video editing and screen recording also. Like Camtasia, Active presenter, etc.

When I do this, the default zoom is very choppy. Even though I only have one zoom arrow, Camtasia behaves as if I have several short and rapid zooms. Any advice?

Hmm...it's not supposed to be choppy. The first thing I'd have you do is zoom in on your timeline JUST to double check as you said that there isn't an additional animation arrow hiding there. If it's just the one, then right-click the animation arrow, select "animation easing" and make sure that's on "automatic." If it's not, then select "automatic" (or any other option you prefer). My only other concern is that you have less than enough ram to show the zoom in your playback. Do you know if your computer meets the minimum specs? And lastly, try exporting JUST that small section of the zoom (drag the green playhead handle to the left of the zoom and the red to the right) and see if it's choppy when it's exported, or if you're just seeing a bad preview. @@techsmith Thanks! I exported it, and it looks fine. I have 16 gigs of RAM, and the image I am using is a 2 MB PDF. I guess I need to use a smaller version of the file if I want to watch the animation in Camtasia.

That's definitely enough RAM. Odd that it's happening. Can you see what scale it's showing at when it's on screen? For example, to fit it on screen are the properties auto-scaling down to 8% of it's original? That could be a reason if it's super large. Either way, glad it's working when it's exported, that's a good sign!

Isn’t there a zoom and pan tool all by itself? I thought this would explain it bette, but I am sure there is a whole tip dedicated to it.

There is. You can see at 0:40 in when he says "switch to the Animations tab," that he's switching off of the Zoom-n-pan feature. This was only available on Windows at the time of this tutorial (2020), so they didn't focus solely on it. I don't believe we do have a tutorial just on that one feature now that you mention it, but I'm asking Instructional Design team to see if I'm wrong in that belief.
