TechSoup Out, Percent In: Streamlined Google for Nonprofits Applications | Nonprofit Marketing

Welcome back to the channel! In my latest video, I talked all about Google for Nonprofits in 2024-how to apply and what's new. Today, I will discuss why TechSoup is out, and Percent is the new company handling applications.
TechSoup was previously responsible for the verifications, applications, and approvals for the Google for Nonprofits program. However, Google recently switched to working with a company called Percent. Percent is supposed to be easier to deal with, more streamlined, and better at reducing fraud.
Now, you might be wondering why there was fraud in Google for Nonprofits. Over the years, we encountered several clients-mostly businesses that created shell nonprofit companies to try to get the $10,000 per month Google grant. These clients were often misled by unscrupulous salespeople or attorneys who convinced them to apply for Google Grants using fraudulent methods. These fake nonprofits were sometimes set up in Canada with identical addresses and P.O. boxes, trying to cheat the system.
TechSoup faced significant backlash for approving these fraudulent organizations. In response, Google decided to part ways with TechSoup and brought in Percent. Percent offers faster approval times, a more streamlined application process, and better fraud prevention.
However, there are some downsides to Percent. They offer various nonprofit tools similar to TechSoup, but many features are hidden behind paywalls, making it hard to access everything you need. Despite this, the application process is straightforward, and you can get approved within 2 to 5 days.
