Thoughts and settings on the Hisense 75U8H. I want to thank the reviewer for their time and effort in creating the reviews for this model series. So I’ve been living with my Hisense 75U8H for about a month now, and I wanted to share my thoughts and settings for those that may find it useful in some way. I’m not a gamer so there won’t be anything related to that. I’m fortunate to have a light controlled environment and these settings are mainly based on that, with most viewing done at night and with the ambient light kit also recommended by another reviewer. The quality is everything that has been said about this model series, including the black levels truly approaching oled territory, with virtually no noticeable blooming. I was concerned at first with the flesh tones, as no matter the source or material, it exhibited an awful pinkish/magenta-ish/sunburned hue, and the greens seemed to narrow themselves down to one dark green color for everything. Played with every setting to no avail. So I reset back to ground zero and pulled out my ancient AVSHD disc and carefully proceeded. So after putting a bunch of hours on the set( yes, they do break-in), and tweaking everything for the different sources and inputs, the color finally started to settle in. The flesh tones are now 90 to 95 percent accurate, yellows and golds and browns look like they’re supposed to without any tint leaning in one direction or another, and the greens now have the variation you would expect to see in a mixed scene of trees and grass, etc. The following are the settings based on a wide variety of material on all the sources, and in setting the backlight, contrast and local dimming so it doesn’t melt my retinas, but still has a good level of ”kick” and dynamic range. Of particular note is my go-to reference disc of The Fifth Element (the good pressing), because it has such a wide variety of colors and levels of saturation, which makes it challenging to reproduce accurately. Filmmaker Mode was the starting point where applicable for SDR. HDR is kind of all over the place in terms of settings, for me at least. When HDR is flagged, the three default choices that you’re given work for some things but not all, so I’ve had to tweak things based on the particular content being viewed. Again, personal taste and the room it’s being viewed in. Also, since the Dolby Vision issue has not been fixed at this point, I used the “Custom” mode to tweak that in. The bottom line is, I feel these are all good starting points before a “real” calibration, but each person has their own taste and preferences, so of course, feel free to tweak-away! Cheers! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hisense 75U8H - “Dolby Vision Custom” Settings Contrast: 38 Brightness: 48 Color: 35 Tint: 0 Sharpness: 8 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Local Dimming: HIGH Backlight: 13 Color Temp: MED Motion: CUSTOM - 5 / 7 Gamma: 2.2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Color Tuner - Red- HUE: 3 SAT: 0 BRT: -3 Green- HUE: -1 SAT: -1 BRT: -3 Blue- HUE: -1 SAT: -1 BRT: -1 Yellow- HUE: -7 SAT: 0 BRT: -1 Cyan- HUE: -1 SAT: 0 BRT: -1 Magenta- HUE: -2 SAT: -2 BRT: -2 R-OFFSET: -1 G-OFFSET: 0 B-OFFSET: -5 R-GAIN: 0 G-GAIN: 0 B-GAIN: -4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hisense 75U8H - SDR Settings Contrast: 7 Brightness: 47 Color: 42 Tint: 0 Sharpness: 0 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Local Dimming: LOW Backlight: 17 Color Temp: MID-LOW Motion: CUSTOM - 5 / 7 Gamma: BT1886 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Color Tuner - Red- HUE: 3 SAT: 0 BRT: -3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> R-OFFSET: 1 G-OFFSET: 1 B-OFFSET: -4 R-GAIN: 2 G-GAIN: 0 B-GAIN: -4 Green- HUE: -1 SAT: -1 BRT: -3 Blue- HUE: -1 SAT: -1 BRT: -1 Yellow- HUE: -7 SAT: 0 BRT: -1 Cyan- HUE: -1 SAT: 0 BRT: -1 Magenta- HUE: -2 SAT: -2 BRT: -2 As of 11/24/2022 Kernel: 4.19.182-ab92 (August 9th, 2022) OS Build: RTT 2.211209.001

I have the U8G from last year and absolutely love it, i got the U8H for my parents and is an amazing tv as well i prefer the U8G stand but everything else is better on this new TV most notably inky blacks(OLED like), as far as build quality which everyone seems to be worry about i'll give you my 2 cents is solidly build both last year U8G and this year's U8H, everything fits well and the materials seems to be high quality the stand on both are metal and overall is great, picture quality and features is where this TVs shine and for the money there is no better deal, finally i have had my U8G for about a year trouble-free with solid performance so i have high hopes on the U8H as well.

I was about to return the TV. I took it out the box and it had issues with motion, picture and blur on fast moving objects, but this morning 11-9-22 there was an update that changed the color accuracy and many other things that was wrong with the tv that i wasn’t happy with, but now the tv looks amazing! I’m glad I kept it and didn’t return it! The tv wasn’t upscaling correctly and so many other buggy things. Even how some things are named changed like low, mid-low, medium, cool names changed. This TV is too bright but you can change it to your liking. I don’t think im even going to use 100% screen brightness, i mostly always use only 30% anything higher than 70% brightness is an eye soar. The colors out of the box sucked so much but after the update they are much better than they were before. Man, im so happy with my tv now. Even the contrast is much better now and no longer looks hazy as it did before. Edit(11-18-22): my only paranoia gripe still is that the tv doesn’t have anywhere the model number; in the about section there’s only a generic “4K tv” for the model number. When doing the first update out of the box it said now updating your U7H which was the sketchiest thing for me. I hope on the next update the company designates a definitive model names on the “ABOUT” section. My second gripe is that the KZbin app that comes with the TV has significantly more ads than on my cell phone for the same videos on my phone. If they can just have the regular amount of ads that would be great! Because it makes watching the free KZbin unwatchable because of how many more extra ads there is. I get it that some KZbinrs have more ads than other but it’s not that I’m convinced it’s the TV. Other than that still great.

I have a cheap Hisense 43" with local dining, Roku for 2019. Paid 220.00 for it. I use also as a computer monitor as well. My Mac mini M1 work great with it. I use an app called EasyRes set at 2304x1296, 60 HZ. It scales perfectly for these old 62 year old eyes. I still have a windows 11 machine hooked up to it, but windows scaling sucks. People are amazed at the picture quality, they cannot believe it's a 220..00 TV.

@6:47 - I have this TV connected to an HTPC and the VRR works fine. I have it set to 1440p 120hz and it works with most gaming scenarios including emulators (Dolphin and Redream are a real treat at 4x native with Freesync). Note that tearing may occur if the framerate dips below 60 too often.

@rzavi4jc
@rzavi4jc Жыл бұрын
You don’t necessarily need to film it, it would just be nice to know how it compares to other tvs since cable only comes in at 720 or 1080 at best. The internal software then takes over to convert it to 4k right? I’ve always heard Sony does that best but would love to save the money and get equal performance with a Hisense.

I got this TV at 65 inch, it has tons of options to tweak the picture but I found what I like for gaming like xbox 360 and ps4. This TV also has some very good blacks for a LED LCD its nice but this TV has a blurring issue that is a bit much. I am more use to OLED and the blurring is not a problem for Blu ray content, newer video games, 4K content. However on content on my TV box using iptv or OTA antenna the channels are very blurry on content 720p and less but even 1080p content has some blurring. A big reason is the TV is huge but also the upscaling, pixel response time is not good and I wonder what settings I can do to reduce this. I have the motion set to custom with Judder at 3 and blur reduction at 7. I have motion clearness off because the soap opera effect sucks. These channels have motion pixelation even on a OLED but its just much worse with fast action turning into those squares. Hopefully I can get some tips. Also the TV is so bright which washes colors that I have brightness set to 25 to 30.

You may be sold, great hardware and because your version of the U8H has the GoogleTV OS. However, many with the same hardware are equipped with the VIDAA OS. You would then change your mind when you realise how limiting VIDAA OS is.

I had this TV for about a week and ended up returning it. HDR content was way too dark to the point where I couldn't see ANYTHING during dark scenes. But the main reason I got rid of it was I just couldn't get it correctly calibrated for my use as a PC monitor. The TV looked great when using the built in apps and for gaming but it was horrible as PC monitor. I found myself having to constantly adjust the settings depending on what i was doing on my PC. So I definitely WOULD NOT recommend this TV for use as a PC monitor.

@@Toddscamry-lk5wr sure when it comes to having to calibrate gamma and stuff like that, but bottomline is you shouldn't have to do that to get a good picture. After returning this TV I bought a TLC TV instead and I barely had to adjust the settings to get a good picture, which is exactly how a TV should be. If it takes you an hour to get a good picture then it's not a problem with the user it's a problem with the TV, and i may not be a complete genius when it comes to calibrating a TV but I do consider myself pretty tech savvy, hell throw a broke PC in front of me and I'll have it fixed in no time, or a cellphone, but I swear I was ready to throw this TV out my window. If you had no problem using it as a monitor then I would genuinely love to know what settings you used because after talking to many other people in various forums they also had huge problems using the TV as a monitor for the exact reason i did.

@@NonLegitNation2 I use my TV as a dedicated monitor as well, the AMD Freesync is tempting, that's why I've been eye balling it, but I'm put off because it doesn't have a PC mode for the PC Master Race users... That's a big NO SALE! They cut out a huge customer base by omitting a PC Mode.

@@TechSteve exactly what I was talking about. Having four 2.1 HDMIs is a plus but there are ways to work around it if you only have two. I myself want a 75”-77” screen and I have been struggling and going back and forth between the U8H, the C2 and the A80K (I wish I could afford the G2) and I truly can’t make up my mind. I have almost total light control in my room and I’m 60% movies / 40% games. I had a 105” screen with a Projector back in my previous house (dedicated room). Now I don’t have a dedicated room and I just can’t settle for anything less than 75” - so, the 77” G2 is out of the question because of its price. I need to decide before my wife’s prediction becomes a reality (she says I’m going to get crazy if I don’t make up my mind soon) LOL!!!… I just don’t want any regrets after buying…
