Really appreciate you doing these follow-up tests, Chris. Many reviewers just review phones within 2 weeks of release and never revisit them and there are often so many updates to improve camera quality. Most phones are on borderline beta software when they're released (not that that's excusable in $1000+ phones) and it's good to see how they perform after they have matured a bit.

Thanks I will do more if these videos do well. The Magic6 Pro go a big update and later my X100 Ultra and Pura 70 Ultra also got updates. Samsung has a camera update coming apparently so when that is out I might test again. I've been waiting so long for it.

I love my magic 6 Pro so much. On so many occasions, my friends with their iPhone 15 Pro and S24 just put their phones away and let me take the photos. They say they felt robbed by Samsung and apple. Lol. Especially with photos taken with people standing in front of a bright background. The iPhone has it overblown and my Honor just fixes it and both the foreground and background are perfectly exposed.

Magic 6 Pro got only minor camera improvements. I think the harcourt portrait update that hopefully will come soon will bring a huge improvement in terms of portrait shots. Honor still has the best video footage with Movie Mode and Classic LUT Also did you notice that sometimes there is no zoom out animation on Honor when switching from Tele to Uwide?

Samsung opted with the 5x optical so switching between lenses can be done while recording at 4k 60fps. Right now there's no chip that can do so reliably or not cause the phone to overheat using a 10x optical. This is the reason why the S23u never records 4k 60 videos while switching between lenses.

All have pros and cons--no outright winner for me--depends on what you need. With that said then choosing between these three devices will be about the rest of the package and net cost. Personally I would not buy the iPhone with only two months before the iPhone 16, so I would wait until then as the new Pixels will also be in the game and we have a fairer comparison as all will be 2024 phones.

I'm wondering if camera evaluations should be done in reverse: not "who's the best", but "who's not terribad". Iphone has quite a few fails even in video (that background mountain !) where I think it's overall best. Honor has few fails in pics ? Samsung stutters a bit in vid, no fails in pics except low-light ? Overall for pics in realistic conditions, I'd go with Honor. And Apple for vids.

I'm not into iPhones (pixel 8 pro here), but the video coming out of the iphone just seems so far ahead of what the best android phones can offer. There's something about the video that I can't quite put my finger on (maybe the sharpness/softness, maybe the colours) that makes it look fantastic.

I must say that after first minutes of wideo and how detailed and stable Magic 6 is in that part of walking and mountain view I will not say Iphone is still King of videos... Look at that mountains details brother. Of course not everyone will like that Magic colours (I like it) but how much I love iPhones videos that I was very impressed by Magic in that shoot while walking.

The 10x video record on the S23u is optical, while on the S24u is digital with AI. Optical always wins. Samsung added AI to compensate for this sacrifice as they wanted to make the 4k 60 video recording on all lenses seamless. With a 10x lens, this is not possible yet.

There's no point, in the right hands the Xiaomi is light years ahead of the S24 ultra but all these comparisons (not just pointing the finger here as KZbin is full of them) are all auto mode shots only, point, click end of manual. Xiaomi uses the very best mobile camera hardware with very natural/little processing, the big names use average to good hardware and therefore use lots of processing in an attempt to make up for the deficiencies. It depends on what you want from a phone, nice classy filmic shots or straight to Instagram shots - there's a big difference. 35mm F1.6 shots in photo mode on the Xiaomi destroys anything that any phone can do in portrait mode, but no-one ever showcases each phone's strengths (unless the strengths are "point, click end of manual"), the edge detection in portrait mode on the 14 Ultra isn't the best admittedly, but when the hardware allows you to take portraits without a fake bokeh effect, use it. God forbid a photographer makes a comparison with pro mode only, it would be a blood bath and the big 3 wouldn't come out of it very well.

Generally the iPhone 15 PM is the best in most cases, definitely not all the cases. For example I really liked the micro picture from Samsung more as well as the portrait one. For the Samsung I think they really need to partner up with some experts in the photography field like the Swedish Hasselblad or other similar companies.

For me, it's obvious that Honor Magic 6 Pro is not as good as DXOmark people told us. They just adjusted score for themselves, to "prove" something, which is just a big lie. Honor is the worst of those 3, so why is in best top3 DXOmark phones by camera? It's ridicilous. Should be MUCH LOWER on the DXO ranking.

It is easy to remove wind noise in post and all three would need some post editing to do that. So I never worry about background noise like that. If you are a pro you probably wouldn't use a phone or would use an external mic. Also, wind noise sometimes adds to the video as it creates an atmosphere. Obviously a vlog you would probably use an external mic with a windshield.

Did you ever test the setting "dont lower fps" (or what it called) in dark i had iphone 15pm but did not try it before returning it. Would be interesting to see if they set the iso even higher or the video become more dark. And hopfylly it removes stutter/framedrops.

4.21, iphone do really bad after talking pictures. After few seconds the photonic engine(deep fusion) do over process and increse the clarity and make over contrasty photo. It is much worst.. Before taking the photo in viewfinder shows good results. The over processing ruined the photo.

Samsung and iPhone have not improved much the last 2 years. Myself still use Samsung S22 Ultra because the new one is close to the same level and not worth the money for me.
