As a current Huawei user (and I think this is so true of many Chinese phone manufacturers) they have such quick charging that your typical habits and concerns around battery tend to change. As an Iphone user I used to religiously charge overnight and that was for the day. As a Huawei user, I just charge as and when I feel like and rarely charge overnight... why? because it takes 15 minutes so who cares right? I imagine that would just be the case with this device.

I have a Huawei Mate 20 Pro that launched in 2018 with 45w fast charging. I still use it today with its original battery and it lasts more than a day. That's 6 years! The Chinese battery tech is way ahead. It's why apple and Samsung are so scared of them.

Is it strange that a three-part foldable feels "less" gimmicky to me than a two-part foldable? It's just that the usual unfolded phones have an awkward size imo, too large for a phone, too small for a tablet, while this one the unfolded is a full tablet.

That's just how I always felt about the current folds too small as a tablet and too square. Watching netflix on my Z Fold 6 is no better than the normal phones. But then watching video on this Mate XT as a proper tablet, now we're talking!!!

this is actually what i've been waiting for since like first foldable AMOLED screens, and that was like ages ago. Finally someone figured it out. next step - is to combine a PC and smartphone in one, at least for some basic office things, like those poor cheap windows tablets back those days - maybe now it's actually time to shine. i know that it's mostly a software thing, but still. hopefully Apple doesn't do it before others do.

Huawei has the capacity developing much more advance chips but due to US sanctions, HW and SMIC don't have EUV machines making them. Given HW and SMIC much credit for such a short time and they are able producing 7nm chips. M70 is coming up and rumors say it will equip with 9100 chip which is 5nm. If that's real, then, congratulation to both HW and SMIC for such incredible achievement due to all the harsh circumstances.

Well, I don't believe Samsung is going to bring out a Trifold anytime soon. It's not that they don't want to; it's because they are not capable of doing it. After six generations of Z Folds, Samsung keeps putting a small battery inside a thick phone with a narrow screen, no built-in S Pen, and a very noticeable crease. Not to mention, Samsung lacks quality control. Last year, I returned a Z Fold 5 because the screen was detaching. That's right, the screen was detaching, not the screen protector. It was very frustrating! Honor, in my opinion, with only two generations of foldables, has delivered better work than Samsung has managed after more than six years of trying.

The Mate XT. offers a foldable keyboard that can be put in a jacket pocket when folded up. It can be wirelessly connected to the Mate XT. However, it needs to be purchased separately for about 2,000 RMB.

Also, Huawei do offer a system called Huawei Hi-Car which is basically Android Auto, you can use it by purchasing a dongle for your car - it just imitates Apple Carplay for the car and instead uses the Huawei native system (that currently drives a squillion cars in China)

As long as you use a screen protector, I don't see an issue with the exposed flexible OLED besides it not feeling as good as glass.

No it's wrong. I am using foldable phone more than 4-5 years. I already used samsung fold 2,3,4,5 and now I am use OnePlus open and vivo x fold 3 pro. Inner display can scratch and damage very easily. It can scratch easily with finger nails.

As someone who carries both a tablet and a phone with them a lot, I like the idea but the durability just isn't there yet. It seems like one step forwards two steps back to have something convertible that you have to baby and carry in a protective bag... Any advantage in versatility and portability is offset by having to baby it a lot more.

Many people believe Apple asked the US gov to do something about it. So ZTE, then Huawei were targeted for "security reasons". It's logical to ban Huawei products and equipment, but banning them from receiving google support doesn't make sense at all. It's simply to cripple their potential.

Did they place the plug on the bottom when stood in widescreen orientation without allowing 360 degree screen rotation SO THE PHONE INCONVENIENTLY STANDS ON THE PLUG.... like stuupd Google did with the pixel fold... Frustrated me because the phone should be able to stand in widescreen for video viewing with a simple slight lean .. nope frigggign plug on the bottom .. pissde as I write this .( Intentional typos due to cyber hall monitors)
