I grew up in the 80s and 90s and i was always mesmerized by the av equipment at the electronics stores. All of the lights, buttons, knobs, etc. I friggin love staring at my rack, probably more than a movie in the theater.

Nice NAD 28s. I am looking to buy either M28 or Buckeye. I know you had tried Buckeye amps, how do they compare?
@Techthusiasm
@Techthusiasm 14 күн бұрын
I never had the Buckeye in-hand, I just was looking at them closely and had Dylan on the channel a while back. I chose NAD for various reasons. Can't go wrong either way, I think. It somewhat depends on how much you want to spend.

Excellent video! Any consideration to put in internal air flow cooling fans (i.e. AC Infinity/Cool Components, etc)? Assuming may have enough airflow in the room but possibly between the gear. Overall looks great.
@Techthusiasm
@Techthusiasm 25 күн бұрын
Yeah, I could certainly add some fans. Given the room is large with HVAC air circulation and in a basement though, it never really gets too warm in there. I don't think the fans are needed.

Are you concerned about Ubiquiti not playing nicely with Control4

Hmm, are there known issues? I'll have to research this.

C4 put UI on a “not supported” list a while back but AFAIK it’s no longer relevant. I use both together and it works great.

How does remote control work for all the components that are in a separate room than the theater? Is everything just natively bluetooth so you don't need line of site, or you use IR repeaters or something?
@Techthusiasm
@Techthusiasm 25 күн бұрын
I use a Control4 system and everything is on IP control, minus one little IR repeater which I use only for volume in the living room when using the Apple TV Siri remote.
@jastorino
@jastorino 25 күн бұрын
@@Techthusiasm So mechanically, how does that work at a high level? When you use the control4 remote how is it sending commands (RF/IR, etc) and what is it sending the commands to? New to it, and thinking how I might do something similar. I have a legacy Harmony One remote, but it is only IR. When I am watching movies in the theater, all my equipment is covered up by panels so IR doesn't work and I have to resort to a mix of remote controls and apps on my phone.
@Techthusiasm

Commands are being sent over the network wired Ethernet/Wi-Fi. Everything controlled is network connected and has a Control4 specific driver in the system which the EA-5 controller runs and commands.

@@Techthusiasm That’s great, I should look into that. Only thing not on Ethernet is my projector but that could be solved with a new cable run or alternatively with CEC from the AVR

Looks clean! I recently moved my AVM from a shelf to their rack kit and it visually looks a lot better for not too much cost. I’ve been considering stuffing all my UI gear on the back because the silver doesn’t match anything but it’s too much work 😂
@Techthusiasm
@Techthusiasm 23 күн бұрын
Nice! I have the rack kit for the AVM 90, but I don't use it. I think it adds an extra 1U of height, and I prefer to be able to have my pre/pro on a shelf just in case I ever demo or review something else. It will be easier to swap.

Looks good! A few things I did for my rack were similar. I use a lot of 1U and 2U vented blanks as well as the blank shelves but the vented ones. That is where I have my 2.5G switch and AppleTV. One thing I did for awhile was half depth shelves for smaller things and to give more room to work in the rack when the shelf extended further than the component. The downside is they do not have blank versions so I took those out and just added more space and blanks. I switched out the fans because I noticed the Strong FS DC fans you can hear the bearings and I replaced them with AC Infinity roof rack fans and tied them to some 1U intakes. Much quieter and I can see the approx. temp. This was a bigger deal for me since rack is in same room. Lastly I switched from panamax to a Wattbox modular power which freed up some room and gave better options for various types of power plugs. Then just standard stuff like lacing bars etc. The only thing I wish was that the 37U racks were deeper. It was either go 35U or 42U for a deeper rack. Strange the 37U doesn't have a deeper option.

Nice video. Thanks! Unifi is great. I went from more than a dozen switches and access points from half a dozen companies to all Unify network equipment. Much easier to manage with one front end. It would be nice to have a follow up video on the back of your rack, such as how you deal with cable management, power, etc.

I've said before you have an impression rack of equipment. I've never had a rack but back in the 70/80/90s I had a rolling stand for my equipment with the large glass door.😂 Now I have furniture stands because I like to showcase my equipment even though I have 0 company especially now that my Nephew has passed away. He would come over and play video games and I would only watch. He was way out of my league when it came to playing video games.😅 I can't even suggest anything you need especially now that you've upgraded your projector. Congrats and can't wait for the reveal & review!💯💖🧑🏾‍🦲
