The speed issues for apps is mostly explained by animations. The WP animations take longer to complete, but it makes zero difference in day to day use. The camera, though, definitely goes to the Lumia. Much better contrast, proper exposure and less prone to noise in low light as well as blur.

The reason the os is a tiny fraction of a second slower on windows is because of the animations. It's a choice by them to have the animations on startup of apps.

Tech Trinkets .... 950 Xl photos looks much better than from Z5 premium . For exaple 7:45, and than Xpreria`s crappy photo with owerexpoused sky. Z5 has big problems with Dynamic Range,and details on Xperia samples like always are blurred on both frame edges , especially low light samples are horrible. Camera performance on Lumua is much professionaly than on Xperia Z5.

Firstly thanks for the review. I enjoyed watching it. I am however slightly puzzled by your comments around the camera apps and video and photo quality. Unless my eyes are deceiving me, the Lumia 950 destroys the Sony in every test shot you took. The Sony images are over exposed, the focus is off and the depth of field is rubbish! Also, all the extra shooting modes/options you mention that the Sony has are available if you click through to the gallery on the Lumia too post capture. You can share any content captured with any relevant apps etc and also the post capture editing capabilities on the Lumia are 20x better than the Sony without having to install any 3rd party apps. You should check them out for yourself. See what you think :-)

I really like new Lumia. It also has AMOLED screen, which is nicer imo. But I really HATE that search button! For me it's just completely useless. Would have preferred that multitasking button instead. Also, 950/XL have probably the best mobile camera out there. Beating Samsung and Sony. For me, music and browsing and occasional camera snapping (when I can't be bothered to drag my DSLR camera around) is most important.

I owned the Z5 and it is quick at first but over a small amount of time i found that it lags really bad and becomes slow especially once you have used more storage for some reason, but i did own an lumia 930 which was by far my favorite phone and only reason i went to android is because I lost the lumia sadly but defiantly looking to get another windows phone as the Z5 is not good enough for me.

Starting of app by milliseconds is not a delay. It is an option for developers to add splashscreens that can be displayed to users... so the app has to display it... Atleast 950XL won't start lagging after a few months

Same problem video issues with 950 XL, had it few days (loved 1520 bar low light videos were horrible) sent it back and got S6 Edge+. XL takes the best photos, or close 2nd, but videos are poor, if the subject is at distance and you dont pan, then all is good, audio is best there is, but as soon as you need to move/pan/refocus it goes downhill fast. If they could just nail that part then its MS all the way camera wise, until then its like of Samsung/Apple that hold top videos.

lumia 950 is a good phone still have issues with WP10 but Z5P is the best and of course sony has a better camera,just look at the colours an details or show them to a pro photographer of course z5p is better,that over exposed is because sony has bigger sensor and can receive more light,you can fix it in manual mode a good photographer always shot in manual,just impressed by newbie that say lumia has better camera :D

+Emad nejati The pictures taken whit the Sony camera are definitely worse. Most of them are overexposed. Sony seems to struggle a lot whit the Sky, it overexposes almost every time. That is bad because is more difficult to almost impossible to recover details in overexposed areas. Also pictures taken whit the Lumia definitely look sharper, the dynamic range is better, contrast is better. In low light the Z5 is quite bad, no point in debating that. Z5's sensor is only a little smaller 1/2.3" vs 1/2.4" for the Lumia but the aperture is also a little bigger F2.0 vs F1.9 in the Lumia, so your explanation for the overexposure is not correct. Also Lumia phones are among the first to get an advance manual mode.

+Emad nejati I don't know if Sony's sensor is really better, probably but it's imagine processing definitely isn't better it's clearly worse. Everything else you mention is actually better on the Lumia, or you are watching the wrong photos. I doubt Sony's sensor ca receive more light, and I explained why, if you have real arguments to contradict what I said in my previous comment then let's hear them. The guy does look like a newbie but he did take the same pictures whit each phone. The thing is most people using these phones will be newbies . Also you can improve the photos taken whit the Lumia via Manual Mode or shoot in RAW format and edit them later. The Xperia is not the only one that has a manual mode but it can't shoot RAW. The thing is the guy didn't concentrate too much on the Sky and the Z5 still overexposed at a level most pictures were trash. The Lumia in the same situation did much better. At this point you are just making up excuses. He also took those pictures in 20mp mode whit the Lumia(The Z5 take pictures at 21mp max if I remember correctly) which also has a Pureview 5mp or 8mp mode and the Lumia won hands down. If it's better at full resolution we can easily say it better in Pureview mode. The Z5 is a very good camera but it looks like is not better than the Lumia camera.

Just look how much more you see on the start screen of the Lumia and how customizable it is. Look at how many apps you see with actual previews with just ONE swipe in multitasking. Look at how much more content Edge shows compared to Chrome. The keyboard feels easier to use. Windows 10 Mobile owns Android. Android looks really antiquated. Too bad nobody realized this. +Hackers World As far as camera goes? No comparison. 950 is better by far. Examine the amount of different noise in z5p, a noise party. It is clearly visible in most z5p shots if not all, be it in day light, low light or in video recording. I written and seen it again and again in other tech trinket videos and in other channels and websites videos. Sony's image processing is trash. I hope they learn for the premium successor (they should have learned by now...) and judging by previous sony flags noise will be apparent also after a camera software update. Not much has changed in xperia land. Same old dna problems.

my 2 cents, you should test Apps you have actually setup to be used, so they can actually pull content and data. Also, that video test. it was like you were going through a check list of what to do. give some time for the camera's to actually focus when you move and zoom. it was really a waste of time. but I love your videos, just some constructive criticism.

I hate the fact the Microsoft keeps removing animations with every update. 8.1 has less than 7.5, and now Win10M looks extremely stale. WP was always the pretty, animation rich OS and Android is now way better. Everything looks nicer and smoother. I don't get that. Also the Z5's camera isn't very good, but the SteadyShot stabilization is amazing! Looks like it's mounted on a tripod! It's also way quicker with exposure and focus.

I'm a developer. To honest, that's the way how developers designed the animations of WP. They've set the interval/timeout in 2-3 seconds. I'll share some secret knowledge to it. The coding design and pattern is done in golden ratio/Fibonacci sequence (1.618033..) rule. Which is preferably in nature behavior way. We want it the nature behavior.. The harmony and peaceful without instant..The design UX is also done in Golden Ratio/Fibonacci sequence.... Now you guys all know... Because Windows preferred the concept when one person or user looks out of their Window from a kitchen, room, etc... They would see the nature behavior way... Not too fast, not too slow... It is the nature way of trees, flowers, wind blowing, sun rising, sunsets, animals, plants/seeds grow... It is the natural behavior.Microsoft's or Windows 10's intention is to point out that, be patience, diversive, bold and observe it naturally...

+Rafał Lizak Just think. IPS is used in profesional graphics in very expensive pc monitors. AMOLED has not wide usage due to color stability is much lower than IPS. AMOLED can't display color as they really are it will be always oversaturated. AMOLED is just marketing sh!t promoted by Samsung. Better contrast does not mean better colors by the way... Sony(JDI) is master in IPS panels they supply Apple with displays and chinese phones.

The Z5P is overall the superior device except for the camera. Sony can't beat the imaging tech that Microsoft is licensing from Nokia. Never could and by the looks of it, never will. Sony just doesn't want to put in the effort. The omission of OIS on a 2015 flagship is pretty indicative of that.

Oh and well, it has an operating system that is not dead on arrival. Like Windows Phone/10 Mobile. 2 - waterproofing 3 - A battery that actually lasts you easily though more than a day 4 - SteadyShot for video recording and it actually is capable of recording 4K video (and display it on the phone because it does have a 4K screen) without crashing. 5 - Sony's clear audio+ technology and High-Res audio reproduction 6 - front facing speakers 7 - Remote Play for integration with the PlayStation 8 - Capability to connect with fitness bands AND smartwatches 9 - LED notification light 10 - Fingerprint sensor 11 - Every single Microsoft service, working better and with more support from Microsoft than on Windows Phone. Sorry to say. But you are comparing bananas with apples. Its two completeley different OS's, and the apps are also completely different. The code is different, the content is different, the screen resolution and scaling is also different. Many of the apps you compare aren't even the same. "Music" is not just "Music". If you should compare the two, you'd have to compare equal apps. Also when you compare the browser speed, consider that the content (theme/css) looks different on the two phones (one running desktop profile maybe?) Or it could again be due to the resolution differences. Its not all about nano seconds, its also about how rich the app is, and how it scales. Also the android is version 17 or something, the Windows 10 for mobile is version 1. (as of the first release for phone ever). Improvements may be applied, im sure :)

The auto mode in Sony cameras for photos is really shitty. If you want to get the full potential of the Xperia cameras, use the manual mode. The difference in quality/iso/colors is astonishing.

man actually was a nice review but you can't compared os performance when windows 10 mobile is still a preview maybe if you on february compared again you will see the difference in the windows performance better also you open some apps on windows without started or open like messages I mean apps who need an autentication before start like a login things like that

Unfair the z5 is done on the auto mode which has lower resolution the manual beats lumia at any time ( auto 8mp)

Let me say this; why would you pit an OS vs another that's 4+ yrs the experience and solidity against one that's now being released and still not released to general public as a "FINISHED" OS. Had MS released W10 a year ago and updating since then and what you're reviewing is the case a year later then it'll make a more fitting comparison. When MS completes this OS, the Android OS would be at yet another iteration in comparison to MS's hopefully completed and subsequent updates to OS since then.Many make the mistake of pitting Windows OS for phones up against those that's been around for years. Think if I bought a new car today never heard of and put it's performance up against one in same class of size, engine, fuel economy that the new one would really come out on top knowing it's up against a competitor that's been in business for years.

+Pedmar 007 W10M has been released to public when they launched Lumia 950 & XL phones.If we apply your analogy then Marshmallow is 3 months old,W10M is 2 months old and lollipop 5.1.1 is one year old.And Windows Phone OS has been there for around 5 years and still struggling to get out with 1.7% global OS market share.

With all you've said all you've done is strengthen my post. WP10 is still behind IOS and Android is features that are common place on those. If MS just introduced actionable notifications, smart dialing, organized settings menu, allow apps to open on dl from app store instead of directing you to apps list to then open. Does any of that sound like a finished OS knowing you probably use IOS/Android and going from those to WP10/8.1/8 would give an immediate feel of a step down or fall off.

hahaha go away troll it's not fun to argue with you look just at that video recording performance and it's clear which phone is better here. Lumia has some strong points like low light but Z5 is better in overall. I don't make conclusions based just on samples in video here because it's clear that those low light photos from Z5 have not bean taken on auto mode in 8mp or the settings are just messed up. I have Z5 and I know what it can do! Also reviewer on Recombu channel said that Lumia 950 is behind other flagships when it comes to camera and I take them much more credible and professional than this guy.

+Tech Trinkets The universal fact is you can't beat lumia camera's.the other thing is for the first time apps take longer time to load in lumia . but from second time its better than Z5.it seems that you are z5 fan why because " when browser opened quick in lumia than z5"(your thinking "how the hell did this just happen'd).you gave second chance to z5 by again testing.but the fact is "Edge" browser has fastest JavaScript engine and renders quickly".the fucking chrome know how to gamble this by eating more ram under hood and pretend to be quick(you didnt gave like this chance to lumia by opening apps second time,it seems that you already used z5).and yes lumia don't have better apps since windows trying to improve their apps as much as they can.

Z5s steady shot is good but the picture quality is garbage. Colors are way of and details are missing. Sony ponys wont believe it.
