​@@TechWithBrett Things like if a device that is advertised to work exclusively with Apple's HomeKit, but also has Matter support, would be compatible with Google's smart home system. If so, How would it work? Since Google also supports Matter.

Hi Brett, is it possible to create more advanced scenes? I have the curtain rod 2 bots which I assume are compatible. I don't have a hub (yet) so currently they use a simple schedule to open/close at preset times. I can't use the built in light sensors as my window frame is very deep so the light reading isn't accurate. What I'd like to do is schedule the curtains to open at a preset time every day, but close based on either a light level from the hub, or at sunset+30mins. Thanks

I apologize for not adding this info into the video. It looks like this is possible under the Scenes section. I can create a routine to run if all conditions are met. So if during a certain time, the Hub 2 light sensor goes to a certain level, then it will close the curtains. And the Rod 2 is supported.

If you have devices in your google home from other apps (like xiaomi home) Can you configure hub 2 to controll them with touch buttons? For example you touch button on hub 2 and it activates xiaomi device or starts google home routine?

Okay Brett, seems like a very nice hub, you mentioned it’s works with SmartThings, which is the hub I use. I have a version 2 hub, no thread radio, will this hub allow me to control Matter devices thru the SmartThings app? Thx!

Great question. The SwitchBot Hub 2 is actually Wifi based so it will still work with the SmartThings Hub 2.

Thank you for the video, finally found a review that shows how this hub is connected to Samsung SmartThings. I know that the IR devices are not connected through Matter at the moment but can you check if an IR device added into the hub, then sync the Switchbot service to SmartThings by adding the brand, will the IR device appears on SmartThings?

I just tested this and offer cloud services the IR devices to show up. For my TV it only gives me the option to send the power on/off command. I tried adding a new IR device and program just the volume up button, it shows up in ST but when I press it nothing happens. So if you just want on/off it works great.

Is it possible to connect SwitchBot Curtain driver directly to google home, without buying SwitchBot hub, because I don't need another hub, and another ecosystem and I expect if it claimed "matter" then it's suppose to be able to connect to a google hub directly, right? upd: support told me that this isn't possible which i find ridiculous, because that's the point of Matter - isn't it? to unify protocol and avoid vendor lock, vendor specific hub.

SwitchBot is one of the brands that requires their Hub to add connected functionality to their devices. So the device can operate on its own over Bluetooth but the hub connects to it over Bluetooth and they can be used with Google Home or then integrate over Matter.

But I noticed one thing during this video - Switchbot app is used to create QR code that allows to connect device to Google home, so I think is there a chance that during that process we give credentials or something like that from device to google home nest and then Nest can connect directly to device over Matter bypassing SwitchHub? I mean if I do initial setup with SwitchBot hub and then disable \ remove it - will google home be able to work with curtain driver directly?

I don't get it. I bought switchbot hub 2, but it seems its not a hub at all. It requiers google nest to be added onto google home, it cant connect to any non switchbot thing and overall its completely useless. It's just a thermometer.

Dude how do you change it to Fahrenheit you skipped that part :/ Update: you go to Profile then to preferences then there you can change it from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Glad you found it. On the SwithBot thermometer there is a button on the back that took me months to figure out.
