Right click not working on Windows 10 start button / start menu

This tutorial demonstrates the common solution for problems where right clicking on start menu on windows 10/8/8.1 doesn't show up any options or menu.

My WinX Group1, Group2, and Group3 folders were empty. Downloading your set of folders worked perfectly to give me access to the WinX menus by right-clicking on the Start Button. Many thanks for your help.

2021 March update: no need to replace files for me. Just restart Windows Explorer in Task Manager like the man described. Many thanks uploader.

Thanks! It worked for me with win11. I just delete the whole appdata folder (it freed me 40gb of storage) and after that i notice this problem. So I just add WinX folder and paste your files, perform explorer restart and it worked! SHEEEEESH!

I cleaned out my %App Data% folder a few days back to recover some much needed hard drive space and after that... the Right Click function was broken. This video fixed the problem. Thanks! Also... if you can't find the Windows Explorer service mentioned at the end of the video, simply logging off and logging back in will restart the service for you. Likewise, a reboot of your PC should get it done for you as well.

These folders simply contain shortcuts. What is in the download you are directing people to? It would make more sense from a security standpoint to create new folders, create new shortcuts in the respective folders then replace the old with the new ones.

Hi San J! I appreciate your feedback and concern for this particular tutorial. I do not force anyone to download these fixes but I just share them how I got them fixed on my situation. In this issue, the problem is that the shortcuts have been corrupted and so I had to copy the working folder with their respective shortcuts in it to fix this issue. It may seem to be just "vague" to have these shortcuts fixing this problem however that's just how I got mine fixed (blame's on Microsoft I guess) and re-creating these shortcuts are not too practical for ordinary users who have little to no technical knowledge in computers :) Have a nice day

May 2020 - Solution still working and link for download is there. - First time I tried did not work. - In my second time: with my Windows Explorer open, I pressed to RESTART (at the Task Manager), I notice that my Windows Explorer suddenly closed. After that I right-clicked at the START WINDOWS BUTTOM and it WORKED !!!

Hi Jake! Have you solved this problem? Sorry for the late response! Try booting into safe mode and doing the same steps. However if you cannot use ctrl + A, copy and paste your issue might be quite different from this tutorial but give it a try!
