I'm feeling you on this man. Your channel inspired me to start selling used parts builds when I was unemployed and a first it was great but since New years here in America, I've really been having a hard time selling PCs for more than $100 profit on the parts, even though im getting amazing deals!

it's not ur fault, we are sliding into a depression with deflation. Have u seen the news lately? The working poor have stopped going to McDonalds. Thats all u need to know. Moving forward I think new pc gamers are going to prefer ultra budget options and going back to buying an old prebuilt and simply plugging in a bus powered 3050 6gb themselves. And as far as games people will lean towards free to play games and setting sail on the high seas 😄 Ahoy Mi Matey! Ahoy! ⛵💀

Inspired me too. Sold my first one last month and have two listed. I feel you on the profit margins. $100 isn't a lot of profit for the time I spend but I'm disabled so I don't have a lot of job options. I like building and testing PCs anyway. Unfortunately my local market sucks and would be dangerous to do business in anyway so I am selling online only. That makes it even tougher because they have to pay for shipping and tax. And I have to be competitive with similar spec machines on Amazon that were literally just thrown together which is mildly infuriating, to say the least. I do have a plan for an AliExpress special spec build. E5 1650 V4 and reman RX5500 OEM. Might even try selling 'em on Amazon....But I also think that, outside of people who just want a cheap e sports machine, most people want a new platform because of how hard they've been pushing it on YT and in advertising. I'm also thinking of just buying used 3060s and refurbishing them and otherwise building with all new components. People are expecting AM5 to have the same longevity as AM4. I don't think that will be the case but you have to understand your customer.

Bad in my part of Canada too. Sales were terrible through February and I'm thinking I need to drop my prices if I want to move stock. Though some people on my local marketplace have been getting tons of reviews lately and all they sell are high end PCs (4080s and 4090 builds with i7-14000 at over $2k). Not sure if they are legit reviews or if there's actually a big market for expensive high end PCs in my area.

I don't know if it helps, but I often put in my description for PC's, "Equivalent or better performance to an RTX (fill in the blank with a 30 series card)." Like, if I'm selling a PC with an RTX 2070 Super or RX 5700XT, I list it as, "Better performance than an RTX 3060 12Gb."

I'm surprised that a 2080Ti would be a harder sale that a 3070, pure madness. It's the one 2000 series card I'd be interested in.
@ReaverSenpai

The first generation of a new feature (in this case the Ray Tracing) is always passed up on. I was thinking of upgrading to an RTX 2070 from my GTX 1070 but after researching the performance compared to the 3XXX series i am more inclined to jump to that based on a small price increase. At least that's just my opinion.
@stratuvarious8547
@stratuvarious8547 4 ай бұрын
@@ReaverSenpai Even at that, it still has okay Ray Tracing, that's why it's the only 2000 series card I'd be interested in. And anyone ray tracing on anything less than a 4070 Ti is giving way too much performance, in most games, to be worth it. It's a nice to have feature, hardly essential. The reason the 2080 Ti would be tempting for me is that it has 11 GB of VRAM. Yes, it's strange for it to have 11 instead of an even number like 12, but it's still enough to max out textures in pretty much any game at 1440p. Something the 3070 would struggle with in several games.

*TIP* Missing CPU Pins can be replaced by simply unsoldering a pin from a redundant donor Chip of the same kind as the recipient chip. Broken Pins stuck in sockets may have a chance of removal using a powerful grounded Vacuum cleaner, grounded to avoid static charge being generated by the high flowing air..

I’ve definitely seen the same thing with RTX 2000 series GPUs: they simply don’t sell well. At the moment I’m working only with 3000 series and 4000 series GPUs. It’s always like that I think, more than two-gen-old GPUs are far less desirable to the average user. Great stuff with the broken 3600!!! I had never seen nor thought about doing that. Great content as usual :)

🙂 the other problem are the sellers and invidia cards in general, invidia cards hold their value too well over time, so the older slower cards and priced almost the same as the new stuff, it makes no sense but thats still the market, so its obvious the normies are going to go with whatevers is newer, the same problem is happening in prebuilts, go look for urself, u still got prebuilts from one or two generations old and they want almost the same money. Sellers are dreaming.

I just listed a PC with a 1080FTW. I might have to drop the price substantially just to move it. But I did just sell a build with a 3rd gen i7 and a 1650 for $350. It was even in an old case. Gotta be able to get at least $450 for a build that supports AVX2 and has a GPU with twice the VRAM and nearly twice the performance in a Q300L with RGB. I started it out at $550 to give my self some room to mark it as a 'closeout price' or some such nonsense in a couple of weeks. I don't have much in it because I already had the CPU and GPU which is one of my old ones. I have a 2600/5600 full ATX build on an Aorus Elite V2 with a RX6600 and it sat there for a month at $650. I've lowered it to $625 but if I go any lower, I could make more parting it out on eBay.

🙂 its because only invidia has legacy support, those cards will 'just work' with any old random motherboard or monitor or tv out there, any thrift store pc, and pc u find in the garbage. You can still post an RTX 3080 on pretty much any Core 2 Quad motherboard, u cant do that with Radeon. Thats why prebuilts also stick with invidia cards, it reduces customer returns because it will work with their old monitor or tv

I’m kind of concerned with selling a PC that has a CPU with broken pins. Even if it works, I would’ve gotten a refund for it since it’s being sold to someone else. Or at least get a CPU with no broken pins to take its place. It wouldn’t be a problem if this was your personal build.

I personally wouldn't be comfortable selling those either- not because the PSUs were $10, but because of the quality of the units. The FSP 550w is a solid unit, i think it will be fine but a factory OC 3070 is kind of pushing it there. And the Raidmax 650w might be worse, but it depends on the oem model i suppose. Also the cooler master 700w in the first PC doesn't even have an 80+ rating and is over 10 years old?? Another thing about older power supplies is that they might not support newer sleep states at all. It's always worth testing sleep before you sell, make sure it doesn't randomly wake up on you. At the end of the day, bryan gives good support on his systems so I still think hes a great seller, I just don't agree with some of the spec choices is all

I'm re-watching this as I've managed to get ready for a flip - in Sydney, the second hand market is either so-tight (e.g., Ryzen 5 3600 for $100 - when 5 5600 is 139 brand new etc) or they sell it more expensive than brand new (3060 still in the second hand market for $500 "price is firm"). Maybe because of the economic climate, they don't want to "lose money" for when they paid for the premium price.

Trying my own flip up challenge and not doing so well. Surprisingly, it was the PC I thought nobody would want that is the only one I've sold. had a 3770S and 1650. I sold it for $350 USD($315 after fees). I already had most of the parts and only bought storage, RAM and a CPU. I have two builds listed, one with a R5 2600 and RX 6600 and the other is a Haswell i7 with a 1080FTW. I know the market is slow right now but if I wait too long they'll be a generation older. I might have $400 total in both of them. I already had the GPUs and the 2600; some RAM and already got my money's worth out of them. I don't need a second gaming PC because I also have a gaming laptop. I have the 2600 build listed for $625 and the i7 for $550. I'll probably give them a couple more weeks and then drop the price on both of them. I just need to sell them so I can build something with a more recent/desirable GPU. The 6600 is a decent GPU but it isn't anywhere near as appealing as a 3060. A 3060 is, for the time being, a solid 1440p GPU. A 5600X/3060 is the most popular build in the world right now so I'll probably go with a used 3060 and an inexpensive B650 platform. I don't think it is so much the used GPU that puts people off but the old platform. I think having a brand new AM5 or LGA1700 platform would sell a lot easier. It is what most of the TechTubers are pushing and what the customers are hearing.

Bad Nvidia forecasting and a overproduction of 40 series gpus coming to market out of nowhere will bring prices way down. A big selling point of an AM4 system is the upgradability up to (potentially) a 5800X3D. Yet he broke the motherboard socket for any other processor to get the system to boot. He should have accepted a loss and bought an undamaged CPU.
@AAjax

Agreed he has to disclose the condition, but the motherboard isn't broken. Those pins are loose and can be removed, probably with minimal effort.

I wonder if it's the 2000 series that's the problem or more the xx80 level, especially with a "Super" or "Ti"? For instance, if there's a 2080 Super, aren't you more likely to want a 3070? If it's a 3080TI, wouldn't you be more interested in a 4070? On the other hand, I would guess that a 2070 Super would be a sweetspot - they can be picked up quite cheaply, but do have appeal in the final system. However your experience is vastly more than mine. It's a theory ...

Just want to say that in terms of power efficiency (measured in frames per watt), the 20XX cards are just dogs. The 30XX and 16XX cards are so much more efficient, and I'd guess that the 40XX are even more so. I wonder if that's why people are less interested in the 20XX cards. I would never use or recommend them myself.

this is barely a sustainable biz model but rgb saves the day - techs need to flip but also service and build custom machines where the performance is better and with zen5 - possibly more value - of course prices for new blackwell gpu may sink these lofty goals - nvidia has a flaming moat and can keep prices high until there is serious competition and we just haven't seen it yet - it may not happen for 2-4 years

It's sad that the 20X series doesn't hit with the typical market, but it makes sense. All people see is the "30" number and think it's better, even if it's a 3050 or 3060 or whatever, versus a 2070Super or 2080ti. Because ppl just don't know. My 2070Super will genuinely run whatever I throw at it with good fps 50-60+ on the hardest titles at near max settings... 2080ti is even better

I can accept almost any compromise when it has to do with a PC-build ,even the jaw-dropping solution that Bryan thought with the 2 missing CPU-pins ,I wouldn’t mind. There is ONLY one thing I don’t ever make compromises in a PC-build ,and that’s the power-supply and the voltage stability it can provide( *or not ,depending its quality* ) ,since this voltage stability is what will determine the longevity of all the other PC components. Not only these PSUs installed here are “brands I never heard(read reviews) before” ,but even worse ,they are …. *USED* “brands I never heard(read reviews)before” !!. Something like that could easily give (a risk-avoider person like myself) a 😱heart-attack if this was my own PC !!

I love your stuff and have been watching since the beginning, but this video gives me pause. There is no way I would feel good selling the broken pin PC. Even with testing and if you fully disclose and warranty it, one bump and that would stop working. Even if it doesn't, that is going to be someone's problem down the road. I actually don't have a problem with using the cheap PSUs like some do (if they work, they work), but I would absolutely put cable extensions on them at this price point as the aesthetics with the stock cables are awful. Not your best work.

3000 was such a jump over 2000 (3070 beating or at least matching the 2080Ti anywhere VRAM didn't matter) that anything in that series is a budget card now. They're (2000) also 4+ years old now which is where people start to worry about failure rates (even if it's not a real issue and 14nm TSMC was more reliable than 8nm Samsung). I can't see paying more than $150CAD (about $165 AUD) for a 2060, $200 for a 2070, $250 for a 2080, $350-400 for a 2080Ti when 3070s are going sub $400. Maybe a bit higher for the newer Supers.
