Find a CHEAP PC Here: goo.gl/2e69WL
When I bought Dark Souls 3 I got side-tracked with how good the combat system was, and started to like this game a lot, so much in fact that I decided to build a used PC dedicated to playing this game, of course it will play other titles really well, but what impressed me the most was that a $200 PC could play this game VERY WELL at 1080p high settings with a HD7870 @ 1.2ghz and an i5-750 clocked to 3.57ghz.
Oh and your soul is mine! (Warcraft 3 Dreadlord voice ftw)
Purchase Dark Souls III here for only $45 - gameflip.com/i...

Maybe you can use it to dust your cooling fan to super duper levels of clean and then go on a forum and explain to everyone how it increases performance 23% and try to convince them how you've made 61fps possible. Nerd.

Sweet build again Bryan, you keep getting these bargain mobo/cpu bundles, even if it's not top end for it's era it's still a bargain.....wish I could find them. With a better looking case (or some spray paint) and some black spiral wrap and heatshrink it could be a nice looking build...As it stands it's a really good 'sleeper' build. But hey it's all about the performance right.

This is what I love about building a pc. If you know your shit, you can save yourself a ton of money looking for yesterday's hardware that still performs just fine. I recently built a gaming pc with some spare parts I had laying around and with some used parts I bought, and for less than 100 dollars I built a pc with a Q6600, a Sapphire hd5770, a 500gb harddrive, 4 gigs of ram and a few other things. Keep up the great work!

I recently built it, so I still have a crapload of games to install and some benchmarks to run, but some lighter titles (tf2, minecraft) that I already installed are running perfectly with an average of around 60ish fps. Once everything is dialed in I'll give GTA5, Guild Wars 2 and some other heavier titles a go so we'll see what it can do :)

Good old I5-750, I ended up giving my old rig to my mother since she could really use it, which is almost the same as this, but with a better power supply. Her previous PC was an ancient Pentium 4 Dell that still had XP and had been upgraded to 2 gigs of memory finally. Over the years I have almost thought about repoing my old I5-750 and dumping in a new GPU, but never did. 6 years later it is still overclocked to 3.4Ghz on all 4 cores with the turbo and C-states enabled. It is almost running on the stock voltage, and when on a single core it can hit 3.8GHz with the turbo if I remember right. The graphics card is almost the same as well and I would have to go look up the model number to see if it is the same one. At 1.2GHz I bet that thing sounds like a jet, I know mine did. I ended up being able to undervolt and overclock the GPU a little in my old system, while being pretty quiet. Later this year or early next year I will upgrade my 3+ year old laptop and maybe Mom will get a new laptop.

+Balta Bueno Althouth now this build can run most games fine, there is no upgrade path whatsoever to speak of. Meaning futureproofing. Yes you can get a better gpu but thats it. Going for ddr3 and am3+ in this time is kind of not worth it. Especially now that amd will release the new zen cpus and am3+ will fall into oblivion. My advice is to wait, see the prices and performance of the new Zen or go for a "cheap" Intel skylake build which will give you ddr4 ( no point in ddr3 since they are the same price really) and I would go for a r9 380 4g which is slightly better and maybe you can find a little cheaper instead of the gtx 960. Be aware that r9 380 maybe needs a better psu.

@DanzoSrife
@DanzoSrife 8 жыл бұрын
+TrueMegaManiac TYC would be total ownage on scrapyard wars. Linus and Luke would actually have a big challenge! The region that TYC is in is Japan, so he has some advantage for the store that he frequents..in addition he's allowed a longer time frame to fix any nonworking parts. Scrapyard wars has a tighter deadline. But the biggest hurdle is the distance of the two countries
@TrueMegaManiac
@TrueMegaManiac 8 жыл бұрын
Wrathorn One could travel to the other though I have a feeling Luke and Linus might be at a disadvantage since I don't think they know any Japanese whereas TYC, even if it's just a little bit from exposure probably knows at least some. Not to mention it's his natural environment, definitely not theirs. In the case of it being held in the US or Canada, TYC would have no language barrier but he'd be out of his element navigation wise. That said, Linus has said they want to compete in a new area for SYW anyway since they seem to be nicking all the good parts in their town. So I think a neutral area would probably put everyone on equal footing so long as there's hardware to be found. No matter what though, TYC would definitely be a fantastic competitor on the show.

I spoke to my friends who has built alot of computers and shit,so naturally i handpicked my parts and bought them one by one, it cost me 288 dollar..and guess what? his 1405 dollar PC contains exactly the same components as i bought.... yeah..do your research people. :)

Great stuff Bryan. I love your "This old PC" renovation videos. They are having good an effect, too. There are a number of threads cropping up on forums all over the place on 771>>775 mods and other keys that people are not just watching but building them, too. It's like a whole new sub-genre in PC gaming/tech.

+Michel Victor There is something vicariously satisfying about the cleanse part of these videos. I have a hard time articulating the WHY, but the emotional satisfaction of watching it is self-evident every time. It's odd but ... there it is. Who knew? I expect a decent spray paint and a few LED lights on these ugly cases to bring em up "to gamer code" may be just as cathartic.

Question... do you actually use brake cleaner for the PC? Like, same stuff you'd use on your car? Is it nonconductive and therefore safe or what?

@jmwintenn
@jmwintenn 8 жыл бұрын
+Gaveroid i thought he said brake cleaner as well. i've never heard of using that for pc parts before. you dont have to worry about whether it's conductive or not as long as the psu isn't connected to the wall or the board, as you would let it dry completely and it would evaporate. my concern would be the harsh chemicals that are designed for metal and ceramics dissolving the pc parts.
@BioClone
@BioClone 8 жыл бұрын
+jmwintenn There are Isopropilenic alcohol (or something like that, dont know the name on english) that its alcohol specially designed for cleaning, as long as they dont left waste once evaporates... Other alcohols left waste that could be dangerous for the PC... so the fact you allow the pieces to dry dont make it 100% safe... EDIT: its called isopropyl alcohol or 2-Propanol.
@gaveroid418
@gaveroid418 8 жыл бұрын
BioClone Isopropyl alcohol is what I typically use for cleaning off thermal paste, it's just that the guy in the video said "brake clean", the way it sprayed looked like brake cleaner, and I recall seeing in one of his past videos a bottle of CRC next to the PC.

@AncientTruthSeeker

Meta Custom Computers There is no need to do it, that is why we laugh, fingers also have grease, and other things on it that could potentially affect it.
@metacustomcomputers3426
@metacustomcomputers3426 8 жыл бұрын
Leeroy Jergens Using the fingers doesn't affect it in any way. The amount of "grease" on your finger after you properly washed your hands is almost not measurable and there is no way, neither chemically nor physically that it affects the TIM in any way. Laughable is only to always quote people that might have heard that someone somewhere read about things that might happen if you do something differently with your TIM but never in his life tested it for himself. I'm building PCs for over 10 years now and never in my entire life did I encounter any cases of TIM losing it's chemical properties because there might be a piece of dust in the way. Over the years we tried so many different things on our CPUs like ketchup, toothpaste, cheese as a thermal-pad and everything has the same heat-conductivity as real TIM, toothpaste had even better temps than real TIM. The only reason TIM is used instead of ketchup is because it doesn't go bad as fast. Kind regards, Meta Custom Computers

200$ bucks is good. Those older intel i core processors are so cheap, and people don't realize if you go a few generations older you can get stuff severely discounted. Even going for 1066 DDR3 or DDR2 RAM will make your prices dip super low. I watched this interesting build video where dude built a server/gaming rig using old XEON processor and an older server mobo. If size, power, and loudness is not a concern, you can build a pretty beefy PC for super cheap. It'll be noisy, big, and NOT power efficient, but it can run latest games at 720 and even 1080 at 30-40 fps or higher!
