Some context: years ago when NBC got the rights to Premier League games, they wanted to create some hype. Jason Suedakis was either still on SNL, or had just left. He and Brendan Hunt made some promotional vids with Jason as an American football coach who'd been hired by an English club, they were pretty funny. There's even one with Jason driving a golf cart grabbing the steering wheel with his teeth because '..I'm not using my hands..". 😆 I'm an older guy, fell in love with the game watching "Soccer Made in Germany" on a local PBS station. Fellow soccer fan told me, "You know, somebody's turned those old EPL promos into a series.." I thought it was a ridiculous idea, even though the old promos were funny. Watched the pilot episode..thought, "Holy crap, they made it plausible. This might turn into something." Welcome aboard. You're going to get a great ride.

Oh boy, are you in for a wholesome ride. I love this show so much. The Football isn't even important. Every character you meet that has more than a minute of screen time will almost certainly have a full character arc during the show, which fleshes them out and makes you really connect with them.

I was so excited to see this! i have such a deep love for this show, the first season especially. I think it's a really special show that honestly isn't like anything else (a lot of shows now are just. unrelentingly bleak or problematic) and it came out at a time where people really needed to see something different. Yesssss. You guys are gonna love this. I will say, don’t jump to hate Michelle too quick. Ted is a total golden retriever, but his optimism isn’t always healthy. This show is really about male mental health, made palatable and accessible to men wrapped up in sports. 💙⚽️

"Toxic positivity" is the term a lot of people use, and I think it's an apt description. Ted walks around like he's free of pain and regret, or can rise above having to feel either, but like anyone he can only keep the charade going for so long

As far as sports comedies go I don't think Eastbound and Down can be beaten. Honestly didn't enjoy what I saw of Ted Lasso (the 1st two episodes). As far as Drama series Tokyo Vice is my current favourite.
