Also my interpretation of Sam making the national team was that he managed to play so well that the Nigerian government saw more value in having Sam on their team than a 20 million dollar cheque from a Ghanaian billionaire. It makes sense. It’d be unthinkable if Argentina accepted a bribe to keep Messi off their team, so idk, I liked it.

"Be a goldfish" is the first thing he said to Sam in the first ever episode when Sam was struggling to adjust to the UK. Fitting he says the same line to his son as the last line of the series... look how far Sam's come. It's all about overcoming adversity, which we saw just about every character overcome in some way, by shaking off one's mistakes and thinking positively for the future. That's the culture he fostered and instilled at Richmond, and it resulted in so much character growth for just about everybody around Ted.
@WillBernstein Жыл бұрын
"Assistant to the kit man" is another (American) Office reference where Dwight always wants to be "Assistant Regional Manager" and Michael always corrects him as "Assistant to the Regional Manager." Lots of Office references: earlier in the season, Ted said "That's what the lady from the American Office said" (referencing Michael's constant distasteful "that's what she said" jokes)... these are everywhere throughout the series.

The permission thing is about his story to Nate. He wants to be loyal to Ted because of what he did for him. I really like the Roy, Nate, and Willis shot at the end. Roy getting into therapy. Ted coaching his boy. The fact every player had a piece of the sign. Nate bawling. Rebecca bawling. Jamie and his dad. I was a coach (different sport). National finalists and record holders. Then we had our second kid. I left to be available more for my family. I miss it, but I dont second guess it. There isn't a single morning when she starts saying "daddy...are you?" That think I could be coaching right now. This show just hits. It connects with everyone

I took Ted's end as the only end that made sense. He ran away from Henry at the start of the series because he was scared to let him in and deal with his crumbling marriage. He spent his 3 years with the team learning how to be a better, more well rounded person. Ted broke cycles of toxicity in the team but within himself as well. He did what we saw neither one of his parents do: put his son first. I am also glad that most people didn't end up in romantic relationships. So many shows don't put platonic relationships on the same level as romantic ones and it does such a disservice to how important friendship is. Also female team?? Bless.

They both understood that they were both being dumb poo poo heads and it was never their decision. It was always what Keely wanted. I think they love her enough to not put her in the middle of something they decided. I thought this episode was perfect. I didn't need to see Sam's story and how he got there. I feel like Nigeria respects Sam so much and how great of a player and person he is to deny him this time. We saw that Naukufu (spelling?) League was crumbling and no one cared anymore. @43:07 - I thought it was great for how much they had her in the end. We saw her jumping up and down and excited, emotions we hadn't seen from her at all prior to that moment. It let us know that she is possibly not only doing better herself but that she really does care about these folks more than just professionally. And then to have Roy with her was a great continuation for her but it was really about showing that Roy is continuing to try to work on himself. It was plenty to have her in given that she wasn't part of this season. But yeah, I did want to see Akufo get some comeuppance (and perhaps throw another epic tantrum) but trying to fully deal with every thread will not only feel extra forced and artificial, it would also make this a 2 hour last show. So just showing Sam on the national team let us know that Akufo has moved on. I'd guess that his embarrassment at the dinner made him move on or be too belittled to continue to deal with any of them.
@ChicagoDB Жыл бұрын
It’s a safe bet that the series will continue onward with the name “Richmond” or “Greyhounds”…with a continuation of all the characters that we know…probably with cameos from Ted…and/or a return of Ted to the organization later. My interpretation of the villainy of Rupert is not that they need to have a bad guy throughout, but rather that some people will not/cannot change. Everybody else in the series changed and changed for the better. Rupert did not, because change is hard. Change can be painful, difficult, and messy.
