I met Ted in Tower Records, Cambell, Ca. in the 70's when Double Live Gonzo came out. I was a kid could hardly believe what happened. He pulled down a cardboard promotion that was hanging from the ceiling. It has the cover picture of that album along with the song list. He autographed it and gave it to me. I still have it framed on my living room wall. I saw him play the Bakersfield Fox Theater in 2008 and he rocked HARD for over 3 hours and I got his autograph again ! He said Bakersfield was known for it's country music and asked us if we wanted to hear a country song. The crowd roared and he said to get the fk outta here cause he don't play that shit !

I was pulled out of line and brought to his hotel with about 10 others and we talked in a conference room for what was a 30 minutes or more . He signed anything we wanted and took pictures if you had a camera but back then there weren’t cell phones and cameras weren’t allowed into shows . He was really Down to earth and he was talking so much his daughter had to come and pull him away lol . We were then escorted down the street where the venue was and we got to sit right up front of the stage in the VIP section . I don’t think he does this anymore or if he does I think it costs money but back then it was free and he just did it :)
