She was always scared of not being able to give Ted everything he wanted and deserved. She didn’t want him giving up anything for her. With Barney it was easier and less pressure but he wasn’t who she truly wanted. I agree Barney was more what she felt she deserved and that Ted deserved better

I wanted so badly to want to see Ted & Robin together in this show, because I'm a hopeless romantic and want to see the "good guy" get the girl. But for the characters in the show, the way they were written and the way they progressed and evolved throughout the years...Robin & Barney should have been endgame.

@@LoseBellyFatNow0 If you hated them both, wouldn't they be perfect because they deserved each other? 🤪 Barney was an anti-hero. The audience was supposed to like disliking him. For most of the whole show, he's pretty much stuck in this role and shows very little character development at all. Being with Robin, however, actually shifted him away from this in a very good way. It was a shame the writers threw that all away in the end. Robin...eh... For better or for worse, the whole show was not about Ted & the mother. It was the Ted & Robin show. Regardless of it you liked or disliked Robin, the way she was written for 10 seasons just made her the perfect fit for Barney (and vice versa). The fact she ended up with Ted was just the writers showing fanservice instead of being true to the characters.

Robin was nice and clear, didn't want to hurt Ted when she rejected him but Ted never took no for an answer, always tried to change her mind. It was like he was trying to convince her that he was worthy of love and to change and want to have a family with. I think this was very immature, not romantic. He should have moved on from the very beginning and find someone that wanted the same things and a better match, hence Tracy.

In the later seasons, he might be a creep and she might be a pick me, but their love felt so real the first half of the show. They were both so likeable too. I would have been fine with Robin and Ted being endgame if they didn't make the mess of a love triangle with Barney and Tracy the best character ever.
