We are in the early stages of the greatest retirement crisis in the history of our nation and, indeed, the entire world. One thing is certain: doing nothing―sitting back, confident your pension check is “in the mail”―is not an option. That’s a risk you can’t afford to take.
According to Edward "Ted" Siedle, a former attorney with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and America’s leading expert in pension looting, “In the decades to come, we will witness hundreds of millions of elders worldwide, including America’s Baby Boomers, slipping into poverty. Too frail to work, too poor to retire will become the “new normal” for many of the aged.”
In their book "Who Stole My Pension?", the authors focus on the most misunderstood and ignored cause of the pension crisis: mismanagement of pensions and investments.
Robert and Ted recount a history of pension failures, inexperienced boards, gambling, looting, and other horror stories―with a focus on action steps workers and retirees can take to quickly determine if a pension is being mismanaged as well as the concrete steps they can take to end decades of pension mismanagement. They detail critical questions retirees can ask―and guidance regarding how to act on what they learn.

Very informative! The government has fully jumped on The Wall Street bandwagon, VA home loans recently eliminated the home loan amount. It appears they want veterans to go into deep debt, and buy million dollar homes. I wonder how federal pensions are doing, for military and federal civilians! My plan is and will be, to buy properties in Central America and South America. The properties are in foreign corporations, and property taxes never exceed $500,00 a year! The military taught me, always have a Plan B, and exit strategy.

This actually opened my eyes on something that is going on here in Iraq. Here's been a problem between the people and the government , since there is no job vacancies beside the falling infrastructure and the educational corruption which led to the now demonstrations. the government took the '57 , '58 , '59 and '60 ages and put them through retirement so they can fit the '20s in the governmental jobs , what happened is a massive amount of experts has put off their jobs , no monthly salary, and now they've been delayed of their pensions. Now it's the 4th month these old guys has no income for them or their families. I guess Robert is dead right about this crisis , because it's global problem.

These are not happy ending stories, another reason to build ones own business and investments. Im glad I took my Dad Rich Dad Poor Dad stuff out of the house before they lost it to the banks in 2008/2009 because Im NOW reviewing and listening to the books and CDs to get my mind in a better state of mind compared to listening to the continuous economic dire news on YT. I do believe its coming down but I don't need more negative future news and I need to get over my fears of getting into business and implement my real estate business plan. I need to build a team, and rebuild my sales skills et al. This is why Im listening to your channel although this is not good news but its facts which has been around for 20-30 years. Here is what I saw about the financial planners and the free money, its only free as long as the FED RESERVE & GOV'T print in terms of Trillions and play a high stakes repo game. Regarding market crash I completely agree, there will be nobody wanting to buy and we will just see gap downs and markets closed, opened up a day or so later then another gap down and market is closed wash, rinse & repeat. I think we are going back to 1970's.

2 weeks ago I had a conversion with a friend and he said to me that he is transitioning from a daycare worker to become a elementary or high school teacher and I was telling him how pensions are no safe. I am glad I can share this video with my friend about this information. He may reconsider this option. I was laid off from work about a year ago. I am glad that I am not considering a 401k now I know its a scam, I am now at home recording making audio recordings as a podcaster. An older friend I know that studied financing at a College back in the 70's had spread some of the Keynesian knowledge onto me about 401k's (The three-legged stool I was tough from my Boomer now I see now is just a Frisbee ) , I'm a Millennial myself but I do not take knowledge from Keynesian Economist. its a waste.

@emmeadowmitbbs3537
@emmeadowmitbbs3537 4 жыл бұрын
Any "pension" is basically a promise from the government. The government will pay you for sure, but with a dramatically devalued currency. In this sense, I do like 401K better. 401K has all the worst funds with ridiculously high fees. But at least you have certain control by yourself. You are just forced to play an unfair game.
@KrystalToddCPA
@KrystalToddCPA 4 жыл бұрын
Cynthia Aiken agreed with what was said above. If you pull up the military retirement financials you will see the pension was underfunded by over $880 million in 2018. So they can probably pay out the dollar amount they promised but it will buy much less, even with their adjustments for cost of living.

@@emmeadowmitbbs3537 the current projection by speculators is that the US dollar will lose another 700% to 3500% between now and the next 1-4 years. To put this another way, the current dollar has about 3.4¢ ($0.034) of actual purchasing value; if it drops by 700% it will be worth only 0.048¢ ($0.0048)

I don't have a military pension, but lately I have considered the concept that military benefits are a socialist institution. I have no quarrel with this. It's the least we can do. Still, I am concerned about the flaws in such concepts. A crooked govt, which is manifestly what we have, will just see this big pile of money and figure a way to rip it off. The govt is no place to achieve independence. That's what soldiers need. These kids go into war zones for a country they do not own a square inch of. We loose more soldiers to suicide than to combat. There is something seriously wrong with this picture.

The subtle and the flagrant. The US govt is big and it's corruption is subtle. In the smaller countries corruption is flagrant. When I get curious about the USA, I study Nazi Germany. Lots of insights there. So, you are aware but many are not. If you care about your people, work towards the moment when the big shots are fooling some of the people some of the time. Our contribution to Social Security is mandatory. With that bite taken out, we are not in a good position to invest. Our public school monopoly works the same way. Parents have to pay the school tax and have nothing left over to buy private school. Tax vouchers would enable this, but those sows at the trough squeal about how their wallow will collapse if they have to compete with real education. Meanwhile they loot the treasury and the more money they get the more illiteracy they churn out. Now they have eliminated cursive instruction and they are grinding down arithmetic. This needs book length treatment, if there is anyone left who can read. I commend your English. It's a little hard to follow but I got the gist of it. Now if only the local kids applying for jobs were that good at it.

question. If 1/100 people buy up properties to rent which also increase the prices then that makes the 99/100 have less money. if everyone did what the 1/100 for then their would be no 1/100 so what this is all about is that it does not work for everyone. So how is that proper? Even many from the 1/100 are becoming less to be 1/1000 due to taxes, violations, less incomes, etc. Remember 40$ of the population makes under $15,000 a year and growing and real unemployment is 21%. Instead of using your money to fix issues, do you encourage the current trend? Yes or no?

Money is the root of all evil. Eventually humanity will get over it, but it will be tough sledding until then. We had a good middle class. Then they forgot communists are their enemy. As long as we can have a big middle class capitalism is palatable. When a few greed freaks change our nation's laws to loot the public, we have a nation we cannot live with or in. They have cheated to achieve. That is hardly a level playing field. Fiat money selects for serial killers. The evil are frank in their view of society as a predator feeding pyramid. There is little room at the top, and they make sure it stays that way. Iif you can't crack the monopolies, you have nowhere to work and get your slice of the pie. Bankers invented communism. Remember that. All that crowd cares about is a few oligarchs getting absolute power, they don't give a damn which system it is. When fedgov does intntl business, they prefer tyrants because they are more dependable. In recent years the Soviet Union got a well documented visit from some ETs. They wanted to deal with a govt that had a lot of control. So this even goes on in exopolitics. So yeah, not everyone can be a real estate tycoon, nor should they be. In a decent society they don't need or even want to be. Life is about living. You will never see a You-Haul following a hearse. We need to realize our planetary community. Planet wide corruption ain't cutting the mustard.

are we allowed to take our money out of the 401K before the crash, even if we lose some of it?
@debraj8665
@debraj8665 4 жыл бұрын
Depending on your 401K you can take money out just be prepared to be heavily taxed. I got laid off and I have been at my new job for 2 1/2 years. I am not 100% vested but I can take a loan. The money I had from my previous job I did not rollover so I can take that out.

The common worker has no clue when it comes to finance. They were never told not to trust anybody with your money.So they go along to get along.When the ponzi itself is manipulated to pay higher rates to financial planners due to inflated causes you become a soldier drafted into the system which keeps it alive.

"Your loser brother in law should listen to this also" :D. But hey thanks for another great show. My employer does contribute to my 401k (even though the name is different where I live) so I am taking advantage of that but only thanks to you guys I'm looking at other alternative investments like gold or 3rd party investment platforms like peer to peer lending etc. At some point I'll look into cryptocurrencies, too. Spread your money guys even if you have just a little (temporarily of course)!

Hey Robert, What do you mean when you say that pensions are "underfunded"? #askrichdad
@zoraster3749
@zoraster3749 4 жыл бұрын
Ayush Modi just that. Actuaries (super accountants) calculate the predicted future cost of providing benefits against the predicted future assets and returns and if there is a gap that is the unfunded liability. A healthy pension is 80% funded, some of these pensions though are 30-50% funded meaning that for every dollar that is owed they only have fifty cents; they are unsustainable and their existing commitments will likely not be met without significant investment or bailout.

If you are a government employee in the TSP[Thrift Saving Plan]401K be aware that notices went out in 2014[during Obama Admin.] that if the Govt goes broke then the govt is confiscating the "G" fund.Be aware laws are already in place to confiscate gold coins just like in 1929 and only need to be signed by Trump or whoever is President.For proof of that look up Lynette Zang Laws on gold Coins on utube.During the Obama admin laws were passed REQUIRING pension fund managers [most 401ks]to invest in risky stock market derivatives.When the stock market fails the 401ks fail as well.Social Security is ALREADY not solvent but running on borrowed money.

Many 401K and IRA plans are managed by oneself. Some of them are just like regular trading accounts with detailed trading history. How can they steal this kind of account?

EXPOSED .. Canada has a “Repayment Assistance Plan” for government student loans. So if you make under 35k / year they will pay the interest on your student loan until you make over 35k.. So they’re paying themselves interest every month with tax money and our loans stay the same. Maxed out until we make over 35k / year 😱

I love how Robert complains about teachers and public safety, yet he makes money hand over fist. The system is set up to benefit the rich like himself before anyone else, these ROBERTS words. I’m sure Robert makes more than a small department on his own, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he pays less taxes than an average teacher. So, who really stole my pension?!?!
