Thanks Dan Brown, Kirsch and Langdon for bringing me here. Very interesting subject, though I find it difficult to truly understand what he's talking about. Just imagine that the iPhone was yet to be invented at the time of TED presentation!

My definition of technology: Anything that extends a human's (or any animal's) performance. It does not need to be created; technology can be a found natural object that is put to this use.

Consciousness incarnating into matter. A I is inevitable. Cosmic consciousness, living consciousness and matter consciousness are the same thing.

I would say that technological evolution is a type of cultural evolution (along the lines of memetics), which in turn is an extension of biological evolution. They all interact to shape the evolutionary pressures in each in a larger dynamic system. It's no longer possible to separate human biological evolution from culture and technology.

I have a question, Whether is cloning a process for biological evolution or technological evolution? In other words, how new technologies may impact classic biological systems and evolutionary processes. thanks

Yes it is, the problem is people don't think about this, because we lost focus on these things.

Google Samuel Butler, To the Editor of the Press, Christchurch, New Zealand, 13 June, 1863. The first man to apply Darwins principles to technology and one of the finest pieces of futurism ever written. I am disappointed he didnt bring it up.

He said he biked across the US on the power of his own body. What about the bicycle? It's a human-machine relationship, isn't it ironic that he says he dropped technology to travel on a piece of technology?

@thehappyfascist interesting way of putting it. I also see technology aligning more with nature as it evolves, since that is the more cutting edge and efficient way to be. For instance getting energy from old, squashed plants in the form of oil is pretty primitive, but if we could be as smart as the plant itself, and get energy from the original pure source, then we'd be talking. Technology will take on the complexity of cells, etc, and so on.

its going to get to the point where we HAVE TO ask that question: how do you differentiate technology from biology? And then the, "that's easy silly!" answer: Because you can resurrect, redefine, and revamp long extinct technology, and not biology (outside of jurassic park). Cool thought.

notes think of technology like a gene, what does it want? the general evolutionary trends are towards: -ubiquity -diversity -specialization -complexity -socialization technology can be studied and understood in the same way King of England only had 6K pieces of tech; average home today has ten times! technology as the seventh kingdom of life technology never dies - you can still buy parts today for steam cars, for any imaginable prior invention took a page from an 1800s catalog - all of those products are still being made today! prohibitions of technology: there weren’t many, they didn’t last long and such prohibitions were less and less effective over time technology is an infinite game, goal is to keep playing (Carse’s framework of infinite vs finite games) technology is about choices, freedom, possibilities our goal in life is to find our goal in life, to play recursive infinite games; technology is an enabler more notes: kevinhabits.com/ted/

cloning is present in both, because they (biology & technology) belong to the same higher mechanism, which is evolution

I like to think technology is the process of an invention or creation whether it be biological or mechanical...our society is made up of both since the first civilisation. Man was created from elements of nature and from us we created/invented tools to develop ourselves Life is made from the technology of nature, yes and machinery is made from the technology of man The function is the same but their purpose is most definately not always the same so better to keep technology separate from nature

Life is like a river, it flows and curves and eventually dries up. A fish with wings and the ability to fly is really a bird. A mouse is neither a fish, nor a bird. It's all about a point in time and not about facts.

I watched this video 12 years ago. I thought it was interesting but I watched it again in 2023 and I have to say I was kind of disappointing. Just a table talk. Nothing I’ve heard before. However, it’s a good start for those who wants to learn more about understanding the future, the vision and responsibilities of the world population for the next 50 years
