brilliant video, really highlights a small portion of how awesome the place really is, especially the volunteers who explain everything with such interest and enthusiasm. I really hope this gets people down there to see how lucky we are to have these small but vital museums in Norfolk on past and present bases.

Wenda, it was amazing. The minute we stepped into the HC, we were welcomed with a cup of ted (or coffee), fantastic chaps. We were contacted by Mark, who is a verified Ted fan (his son too). Mark was an armourer at RAF Marham and along with the other volunteers, I have never heard a story get told but so vivid that it felt so real. A must visit heritage centre

It does, and if you get a chance, make sure you read “the letter”. The letter written by a pilot to his mother before going to war… oh my …. I will see if I can upload on the community page. I am still mesmerised by the visit, it is such a special place 🇬🇧

@@TedConingsby im glad you got so much out of your visit its so nice that have such a passion and appreciation..I know the letter you mean but I still can't read it fully I find it so heartbreaking as a mum to 3 sons I cant imagine the fear thoes poor families faced saying goodbye to loved ones and knowing it might be the last time..As you know our eldest on 12 sqaudren..He went to Cyprus on op shader on his 21st birthday he was 5 sqaudren then on sentinel ..knowing he could txt me most days was such peace of mind I knew he was safe on the base of course but at the time it made me think families waited weeks for a letter if they were alive some waited years I cant imagine how they carried on during such horrible times 🥺
@TedConingsby2 жыл бұрын
Hi Wenda, the wait must be the most horrible experience ever, to not know. Even with the technology today, the waiting and the silence must be awful. I can only imagine the relief you must get once you got a message from your son

Excellent video. Ted is a pupil and teacher. Keep the lessons coming The heritage centre at Coningsby is a must. The guys who run it are amazing and 97 (Straits Settlements) Squadron Association were happy to have helped towards the setting up of it.

Gazza, thank you so much. It was an absolute honour to make this video for the heritage centre who will have this played on their screens for all their visitors to watch on loop. The guys there are all ex-Marham, they are amazing and so helpful and turn their words like a visual / virtual reality. They are in depth and just bring anything you see to life Gazza. They are the best. Thank you Gazza
