British fighter pilots intercepted 50 Russian aircraft - about one every three days - during the RAF's longest Nato air policing deployment yet in Estonia.
The Typhoon pilots from RAF Lossiemouth have been protecting the skies over eastern Europe on Operation Azotize as part of Nato's Baltic Air Policing mission - the sharp end of defending the alliance's airspace.

RAF fighter jocks are the most professional pilots I ever worked with. I worked on harriers back in the 90s at RAF wittering. Their brain capacity is super human, but they are very laid back. Their focus is unbelievable I couldn't do it I haven't got the brain capacity. Superb at what they do and they never go off about their skills.

Many of us from the Cold War years remember how hard things were for the Baltic people under the Russians. We're serious about that not happening again, Canada has a battle group deployed in Latvia right now and there are NATO forward deployments all across Central Europe and will be as long as the Russian bear keeps growling.

Far as I know Nato ,as part of the increase last spring in reinforcing the eastern Nato members deploying the Response Force then and with the new battlegroups ,always has aircraft based there either on QRA or standing patrol in Romania .I think usually a sqn or at least ,from Italy Spain ,US or etc

This was totally normal in the 1980´s, Soviet jets were always testing NATO awareness, I worked in Oberammergau where the RAF had their ski center for jollies and survival courses, some very tired RAF Aircrew who had been flying almost non-stop for Months were on a short break. Having the best meant having the least, hats off to them, very dedicated pilots and crews.

Typhoon suprises me daily, too bad they didnt continue production and optimization/upgrades to 5+(+) gen specs, it seems pretty capable multirole and seems pretty reliable from my information

It's still a design by committe development of the Mirage that had another engine slapped on to it. Good compromise but there is a reason the French pushed hard for the Rafale development.

They're slowly being replaced by the F-35 which is superior in pretty much every way. 5th gen includes stealth and you can't upgrade or optimise a 4th gen fighter to be stealthy. It has to be built from the ground up for stealth.

So its actually 36 aircraft in the Baltics, the US rotating aircraft in and out ,in this case currently 6 US F 22s also in Estonia ,as well as other US /Nato aircraft in Latvia and and in Lithuania,in sqn strength per . Then too is Finland , now in Nato , just 50 miles away with its 60 or 70 aircraft , and is buying F 35s . And Sweden ,almost in Nato ,effectively is really particularly in the air the Nordic countries air forces having signed Memorandum of co operation .So Sweden can and could put aircraft up over Finland , or the Gulf of Finland, if necessary ,Sweden also with its 60 or 70 aircraft ,Gripens . and heck near certainly has aircraft on QRA to respond out over the central Baltic, protecting Swedish airspace ie a stones throw from the Baltics. And thats just the Baltics btw ,Nato with other aircraft deployed in SE Europe , in Romania Bulgaria etc also in sqn strength per ,as well as those host nations air forces . & then theres Turkiy

@@jakoflynn2560 Well, we've all seen women competitive aerobatic pilots (including World Championship winners) pulling 11g, which is a higher g-loading than military jets typically hit (refs. available), and i spent 15years competing internationally in another sport, one in which women also engage, where typical loadings are around 6.5 to 7, but can be considerably higher under certain conditions. Many nations have women fighter pilots, and seem to have confidence in them, and NASA don't seem to have a major problem with training women as astronauts either. Dunno where you got your quote from - maybe share the reference and we'll have a look at the methodology and statistical significance etc.

@@AndyH2023. yeah, ASRAAM is short range heat seeking missile, meteor is a beyond visual range missile. Typhoons can carry 6 meteor, usually has 4 against its belly, and 2 ASRAAMs and 2 meteors on the wings.
