Good job, the Goodman stamped steel burners have the little flame jumper to jump to the next burner during ignition and I have found that quenched area full of lint giving delayed ignition there not the best furnace although they do leave you bleeding with all that sharp metal.

Good job Ted, I've adjusted many of those regulators, and none of them smelled like gas with the adjustment cap off. They're not supposed to leak. That cap is more of just a dust cap, and keep fingers out of it... diaphragm is leaking on that one.

Yessiree...that gas plumbing Christmas tree is a contraption. The shaking is likely the heat exchanger due to cracks and weakened. I'd have thought a longer nut driver would give your left hand the room to twist it right on in...also less chance of the socket slipping with a longer shaft driver as you twist it. Looked like there was room for one anyway. Yes...time for a new system, review of ducting, returns, filter ideas, etc. Too bad...that system looked to be in good condition.

I've been around the horn, and just bought a house. I passed on a house that was 100 years old with a furnace in the attic. It seems no matter what, you have flames near very combustible wood and asphalt shingles. Even if professionally installed, I prefer my furnaces in the basement on the concrete and near a readily available hose for emergencies. But I am not an HVAC guy, so please educate me on how this is safe. Thank you.

What is the purpose of the extra regulator in the attic? Should be one outside at the meter, and one in each appliance. Was the gas line undersize, and they had to Jack up the pressure? We have two stage propane, with a high pressure regulator at the tank, and a low pressure regulator at the house. Is that the case here?

Hey buddy I got a question I has train about this and my other factory representative I've been having problems here in South Florida well actually mid Florida what's the lizards getting over and around behind the circuit boards and shorten them out I was told by train don't put any kind of wire mesh or anything around them to keep them out they said it will impede on the airflow and caused the board to overheat which sounds okay I guess but what do you think to keep the losers out this is only on package units and split units with condensers outside with boards ever since colvic hit it's been difficult to get boards especially for some of the older units so if I can avoid it by not having the lizards short amount and cook them out I would rather do that let me know

Being a mechanic I see so many techs that could benefit from a 1/4 ratchet with a couple extensions and universal joint. Like behind that valve, even easier with a cordless 1/4 ratchet with flexible extension would have been easy. And even a cheapo harbor freight would easily hold up to sheet metal use.
@picklerix6162 Жыл бұрын
My GMP100 was 28 years old and still running when I replaced it. At 17 years, the burners would intermittently go out right after lighting. I had replaced the flame sensor the year before because the ceramic had cracked. Eventually, I replaced the control board and that fixed the problem.
@brnmcc01 Жыл бұрын
Bad ground connection to the burners can also do that. I was thinking with all that shaking going on might have made something come loose where the burner housing bolts onto the heat exchanger plate, or ground wire screw came loose.

Probably… and the customer gladly chose a new system over repairing the 25 year old furnace. Just because you CAN repair something doesn’t mean it’s in the clients best interest. I’m sure you noticed there were more issues than just the heat exchanger.
@gor312 Жыл бұрын
What's the point of doing a $600 repair on a system that's basically at the end of its design life? If the heat exchanger has failed, the rest of the system is probably not far behind. You do a $600 repair, and then 3 months later the compressor will short to ground or the evaporator will leak and the customer will have to replace it anyway, but they will be $600 poorer. And $500 for an evaporator change-out labor is cheap, most places would charge double that.
