That old stuff seems worthy to keep running. Nice system from this angle. Ted is being nice the neighbor and the little helper there was real friendly.

They keep going even though they are cracked. Usually you can pull the main limit out and look at the dimple in the 2 cells you see and they'll be busted. Easier than pulling the blower. I've changed many a carrier heat exchanger to know. I've seen very few of them last without a crack at all in 25 years.

Want to say I greatly appreciate your content as it is something I can relate to. I watch another channel as well, but he seems to try to impress with his fancy equipment as much as the repair. Being old school, I really enjoy seeing the "kiss" approach, taking in minimal equipment to troubleshoot. Did have one question for you or anyone else that might can explain...purpose for the gas pipe inside the unit that is going up. I am familiar with what I know as a drop leg, but don.t recall seeing one going up. Glad your back!

Good thing this area has Ted around. So many places that want to just sell due to age. Won't even check the heat exchangers. Just an instant you need a new furnace. Those filters are definitely getting changed on time over the years.

Those inducer motors depend on the plate the butts up against the furnace to whether it's available. That was two years ago.

Hope you are feeling better...lots of stuff going around! Nice save for your neighbors. I think you were correct from the beginning...I think that 58RAV135s took a 3/4 HP also agree on that blower wheel...new ones fly apart if you look at them wrong.

I have a similar 60k BTU 92% upflow unit one year newer than this one. I’ve kept it cleaned and maintained and never replaced a single part yet, it still has the original HSI, flame sensor and secondary exchanger (yes, with the failure-prone polypropylene coating). As I live in the high desert snow country, and where it hits 95 to 100 for two months of the year, it is well used. Turns out some years were just better made by UTC than others, but then again luck and maintenance probably matter since it’s not even my oldest appliance and I usually get at least 350,000 miles out of my vehicles also.

Looks like in beginning of vid, flu pipe is at least level but possibly upward pitch, hard to tell. With draft good, would you still not want to fix so it has correct pitch? Hope ya feeling better! Maybe an update on flood damage n a shop walk thru would be really cool.

I saw that 100 60 degrees on the wall, must have had an old oil furnace in there before. "Strainer check" but couldn't read the date behind the furnace. Ok, found it at @4:54. 9-23-74! Wow I was barely 4 years old then.
