Thanks for an interesting video and thanks for being an honest repairman, there are lots of good ones out there but also some not so good ones. Keep up the good work.

Better a few hundred then a few thousand, That's why sometimes you have to wait for an old head. He takes his time goes through it, makes sure the components are good and performs tests for voltage and continuity.. And overall make sure it is SAFE to run.. They are the ones I want working on my stuff not some kid that thinks he knows it all and wants to waste your money.. To many companies are deceitful and some will sabotage your equipment and tell you its done..

You just got another customer that will call you for everything HVAC related from now on. Must have been a white buttoned down shirt operation with the name patch on the front of their shirt along with the Nate Certs patch and a Flag displayed on their sleeves. I guess dirty wires are now burnt wires. Thanks for the video. Stay safe out there Ted.

Worst thing they ever did was start using ECM motors. Not a good idea for the home owners pocket book . The were designed to make people feel good about them selves and the environment.

The savior from a complete replacement opinion "Its' Old". I never understood that mentality when it comes to moving air, sheet metal, filters etc. There's not many moving parts in an HVAC so why does its age come first with those HVAC who lose business by saying things that don't really apply. Going for the gold all the time means losing a lot in between replacements. Based on this first opinion, I wouldn't call them any time in the future as they are just a crew of bandits. Ted got this done and paid in just a few hours. Also got the replacement when the time comes. It always pays to carry garden hose, hose nozzle and a scrub brush for those times the property hasn't got what you need to wash down the outdoor unit. What luck, the entire coin self car wash is out of order !

It is so bizarre to see components of the heating system outdoors like that. I’m in a cold climate, everything is indoors. Convenient that you can work on the unit without the homeowner being home

From 2011 isn’t worth fixing? I have a Carrier-made until from 2001 still running fine and I live in deep snow country where the unit runs 6 hours a day in a well-insulated house, not in the moderate no snow climate.

That’s a common thing here in Kansas City these large houses with a lot of employees will red tag stuff willy nilly they Don’t know how to work on it and they’re also are outrageously high prices too on everything,

I've seen you carry in your "three favorite toys" since I started watching your channel. Will this be the year (maybe during their Spring promo) you pick up a small Veto bag to carry them in? A little MB2 would be about perfect, and also give you room for some jumpers, a popper, and a little parts box of extra screws, fuses, and jimmy-wigglers. As often as you've commented on avoiding trips to the truck. maybe a SD-LD is the bag for you?

Why was the gas valve staying on after the demand ended, did you have to change it or was it just some kind of board level delay?

I can't say that I would recommend spending $1,000 to replace an ECM motor in a 13 year old Carrier with what is most likely the OEM heat exchanger. I see commercial customers wanting to have me do that, but it is ill-advised, and the corporates are only renting those spaces. If the HX looks new, then I might go along, but that woman will need a new HX soon, if it is original to that unit. That's another 1k plus. When do you say, "no mas?" When the compressor goes out due to a clogged orifice header? Like Kenny Rogers pointed out, "you have to know when to fold 'em."
