This was a bombshell for every late 30's+ Boxing fan. I've followed these men through my youth, and I have infinitely more respect for Teddy than I'm capable of conveying. I feel like excrement, like a total A-hole for always viewing Teddy as this angry old man, that was nothing more than a hater, biter over loosing his prodigy. I despised him through his years of commentating, as did the majority of us boxing fans. None of us had any idea as to the truth of these circumstances, and I pray to God that this alters his legacy; as well as Tysons. This interview is absolutely huge, and will be spoken about for however long Tysons legacy exists. After this you should be incapable of referencing his legacy, without acknowledging the sacrifices made by this man. Tyson, though subjectively worthy of redemption, is a grotesque man, and we all gave him the benefit of the doubt via his ring greatness. Regardless of the allegations, or the scandals we just assumed it was embellished; though the truth was it wasn't. Teddy on the other hand is a sincerely great man, who did what the majority of us would like to pretend we'd do in his circumstances, but are far too weak to. His sacrifices, his willingness to stand for everything he believed in, to not sell his soul is something exceedingly rare to encounter, and I feel terrible that none of us truly knew the truth about his legacy. This man was seriously mocked his entire career, and it was absolutely undeserving. I highly doubt Teddy would see this, but man if you ever did I'm sorry. You're a better man than I, and none of us knew because he is the type of man that didn't feel the need to broadcast it to the world. I hope his contributions to the sport will be acknowledged before he's gone, and he's sincerely able to some day sit back and know that he cultivated an everlasting mark on the sport that he loved, and it was for something greater than for what Tysons mistakes nearly cost him. I'm just awe struck that after all of this he still produced 18 world champions.

Teddy and Mike came from very different upbringings. that seems pretty clear to me after listening to both of them. both had plenty of hardship, but i think it's quite clear Mike came from incredible hardship with no decent role models. Teddy had his dad. I don't think people truly conceive the difference maker that is. I don't think any one of the three men are much better than the other. All flawed humans who were shaped by their experiences.

You had a plan for the direction but when the conversation started on a more sincere path, you listened and responded thoughtfully. I've been a boxing fan my whole life and also a Teddy Atlas fan that whole time; I watch his podcast regularly and try to catch every interview I see with him. He rarely gets into detail about his past but, as he stated himself, he must be ready to talk about it now and then you presented with a conversation as one emotional human being to another. Absolutely beautiful!

Inspirational man indeed. Everything that Teddy talked about reminded me Jesus Christ and the perfect love displayed on the cross. The topic of forgiveness, loyalty, the inconvenient path, human experience of betrayal, humility, and life after death. This was a deep convo of wisdom through life experience by Teddy.

Teddy spoke of loyalty & not convenience - He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” … Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭39‬, ‭42‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Teddy Atlas just inspires me... Admits when he's wrong or weak and cares so much.... Every time he speaks I feel his passion for the art of boxing and also his passion for life and how important it is to try to be a good person on your own terms. He made mistakes and had his faults and he's just honest about it. Here is someone you could truly try to emulate. This is a man to look up to.

Thank you Lex for this episode as a holiday gift featuring Teddy Atlas. He's so real and honest with his words and wisdoms. The greatest person is someone who can overcome his/her fear. Ironically, what we fear is what we want the most. Such a hero journey is called life, a spectrum of greatness and weakness that one has to learn and know about oneself. Thank you so much.

@@Chris-sv8tyMike has commented on the gun to the head incident on his podcast and his apology to Teddy...Teddy doesnt seem big on taking responsibility for his end. Mike takes full responsibility but you can he thought it was a bad move by Teddy; not the kind of behavior one would expect from the son of a doctor of the people...makes sense why Cus fired him. Hard blow for Teddy...

@MMA_Jackal 4 ай бұрын
@@Viva_la_naturaI think that’s because he’s not sorry for putting a gun to Mike’s head, obviously this is just speculation but from the way he talks about it it seems as though if he was put in the same situation again he would do the same thing and to be Frank I don’t blame him. God forbid, if someone did what mike did to my daughter or niece and I had the opportunity to hurt that person it would be very difficult not to, that’s for sure.
@Viva_la_natura

@@MMA_Jackal yeah, Teddy and Cus adopt a kid, who had been to jail 30 times, who also had severe emotional disturbance and fed his ego to make him feel like a "god". Mike did something very wrong by smacking her butt. Teddy did something very wrong by handling the matter by holding a gun to a kid's head, which i'm glad you find so easy to dismiss. I guess you're wiser than Cus D'amato. Two wrongs make a right in your world? Teddy was the adult, practically his father. You never said or did anything inappropriate with a girl when you were a teeager? Your pops hold a gun to your head over it? Think about that for a second..take it in. I know everyone's very taken in by Teddy's communication style, But he's the son of a doctor with a giant scar running down his face? You think he's a sweet grandpa guy? Maybe now he is. Cus said he didn't trust him around the kids anymore..makes sense.
