It's been a while since I did one of these "Building a Watch Collection" videos, and today we're back with our most expensive collection to date at $6,000, a range where you can really start to build some incredible collections. As usual, we'll go through seven different personas, each with their own specific outlook on how to collect watches.

Interesting thought about the bright-colored OPs as a “One Watch Collection” watch. I would imagine those colorful dials are more for people who want “something fun”, and already have the daily watches covered with other watches. Personally, the OP36 in Bright Blue (“classic blue”) is my only luxury watch, wearing it every day. The bright colors would just be too colorful for my daily watch. (Don’t really like those stella colors either, but that’s just a matter of personal taste I guess).

The three watch collection at the end is my favorite here. New goal, to put something similar together, at a rate of one piece per year. The Ball moon phase is especially amazing. And if the bracelet doesn't cut it, I am sure it would be more than well served by a top shelf ostrich or alligator strap.

I just checked out their website. I like the Plum Fume, but fell in love with the Iron Cream model. The dial is a beautiful creamy off-white. They are doing great work with the vitreous enamel.

I own a Hamilton Intra-Matic in an automatic and put a black alligator strap on it. I’ve had it for a while and it keeps really good time. I’ve had more compliments on it than on many of my other watches.

I got a Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Squellete as an engagement gift from my father in law, a Tudor Glamour Double Date when my first son was born and a pre-owned Zenith Chronomaster Grande Date when my second son was born.

Really enjoy your content and it has inspired me to recently start my own watch collecting journey. My, at the moment, "One Watch Collection" is a Tudor Black Bay Date S&G with the champagne dial. A very nice two tone divers watch that can dress up and down, with some really great contrasts. Casual or formal? It does both. And it has a date complication just for some added goodness. Prefer watches with dates as they are more everyday watches. Prefer the champagne dial to the black dial, as the black dial an bezel just becomes a big black hole on your wrist. The champagne dial just provides a great contrast to the black bezel on gold and the two tone bracelet.

I had the green AT and I loved it; however, I got the AT Worldtimer and the z-blue Milgauss and the Green AT stopped getting wrist time so I traded it. Having said that, for a one watch person, at that price range, I agree the green AT would be the one.

Teddy, I've heard many times on channels that watch sizes can be a problem with small wrists. Do you have a video that discusses the wrist ranges and your thoughts on max sizes for those individuals. For the online buyer, this would be helpful information.

@@drfathertime lug to lug is a great measure. Watches with bezel like divers use to look smaller. In the other hand awatch that's only dial will look bigger. These visual tricks help a lot the lug to lug

Someone did a big study about this a couple of years ago and something like 80% of watch buyers think their wrist is smaller than average with many of those whose wrist is above average believing it to be extremely small. FYI the average (male) wrist out of, I believe a couple of thousand, was around 6¾ inches.

I'll take the Aqua Terra on its own over all of the other options. It's an incredible watch, I bought one recently with the green dial and since I've had it it's not lost or gained even a second...it's damned beautiful as well and so comfortable to wear. I have 2 other Omega's, a Rolex, a Tudor, a Longines and a Seiko and am seriously considering selling most my other watches as none of them get any wrist time!

@@joshperkins197 There are enough micro links to make up for this. What makes this watch very wearable without micro adjust is that the watch wears very light on wrist, so even if it seems slightly too loose, it doesnt pull its weight around your wrist if you get what I mean.

@@drzaius844 I don't have anything specific right now. My motorcycle is my primary mode of commute so can't just reserve one watch for it or I will just be wearing that one watch most of the year. But I think the Longines avigation a7 1935 would be a cool one, particularly if you are riding a classic like a bonnie, enfield etc. And I love classic motorcycles.

One thing for motorcyclists to keep in mind is to wear a watch that is resistant to potentially getting knocked out of spec or damaged due to vibration through the handlebars. Some bikes purr, other bikes thump, but all bikes vibrate. It would be an absolute shame to have a beautiful timepiece ruined by this. A watch's water resistance is also important if you suddenly get caught in rain. It also depends on what kind of gear you are wearing. I always ride fully geared up so my wrists are always covered but I still want a nice watch when I'm off the bike. In my case my watch choice is dictated by which watches will fit comfortably under the cuff of my favourite gloves (Klim Induction) as they slightly overlap the wrists. In my case I usually go with my Black Bay 41 or Traska Summiteer (aka my poor man's Explorer).

I’ve got a Hamilton Khaki King automatic that I like to use for motorcycle touring. Its field watch style is highly legible at a glance (including good lume for reading it in the tent at night), and the day display is super helpful on a longer trip because I tend to forget what day it is. And it’s not so expensive that I’ll be crushed if something happens to it. (For the smaller-wristed, a Seiko SNK is an obvious choice.) For day to day riding and commuting I tend to favor an aviation-style watch. But I’ll wear whatever I’m in the mood for.

I love the Doxa Sub 300T and as a diver it is the best. I actually sold my Rolex Submariner and bought my Sub 300T I find it to be one of the most superior and underrated Dive watches on the market. I am Check the Boxes kinda guy and have a fairly large collection including many of the watches you have mentioned in your videos from Seiko to Cartier. I have vintage and modern watches from Hamilton Longines and Bulova; I even have the Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer. I have several vintage Ball Pocket watches as well, like you I have a deep connection to Ball as my Grandfather and Great Grandfather were both Rail Road Engineers. Even have a couple modern Ball Wrist watches. All and all I am nearing 100 watches in total and I am no where near stopping. I literally have a watch for everything and every occasion

I like your videos teddy but the big problem is the wrist shots, sure when a watch is a bit big its looks weird on a smaller wrist. You show a watch on your wrist then suddenly you show the next watch on a much bigger wrist, its confusing and if you just showed the watch on your wrist (even if the watch is too big) your videos would be less confusing and just overall better. My wrist is 6.5 inches and when I see a wrist shot of the watches you show on a 7.5+ inch wrist I immediately just skip that watch since I assume its not for me because of the size.

One brand, I have noticed, that rarely gets a mention in these "collection" watches is Christopher Ward. I could see a few of their models fitting into some of these categories easily. Also, I have never seen Teddy handle one in the flesh. He mentioned the C60 a few years ago but it was just a screenshot, nothing on the wrist or in hand. Just something that I think a few of us would enjoy.

Great video again, Teddy! I like these a lot. I like the one-watch collection personna on this dollar value a lot and I think you had tremendous choices there! I saw that one and immediately started looking up more on the Omega Seamaster Aquaterra. The first collection I liked a lot too... that Hamilton Panda is just a great dial! I love the idea of the perfect duo personna. Curious about your thoughts on my Perfect Duo - 1. Tudor Black Bay 58 and 2. Nomos Club Campus with white dial and manual movement. I think that hits the $6K mark, roughly.
