I know this is late, but I got a watch from my late father. And I tried finding out what it was and found you. You have gotten me into watches almost single handedly and I’ve already started collecting (seiko Prospex, and presage) You have taught me why watches are cool, how they work, and how to style them. Thank you for everything you do!

As a professional mechanic, any G-Shock is the way to go. I have two in my collection and those are my go-to for when I’m doing any heavy or dirty work. Comfortable and utilitarian and not afraid to beat the crap out of it. I just couldn’t bring myself wear a Duro or a Seiko in the shop. Awesome video, I really like these videos where you teach the types of watches to wear in each situation while showing actual products.
@jonsonnenschein1253

I would agree. I used to mechanic and now work outside out of a bucket truck. G-Shock is the only watch I can wear for work that will take a beating. I still wrench on vehicles at home, and with my regular job, if I were to wear that Casio Duro or Seiko, I would have it torn to pieces in about a week. When I'm not working, I wear a couple different Tissot's and a business Seiko.
@WatchUnwind

Smart. Never want to beat up a watch for no reason but G shocks are still awesome and are meant for the task. I work with kids and sometimes I’ll be like it’s a good day to wear my expensive watches to work and a hit will run up and hit my wrist with a toy or put my watch in their mouth

powermatic 80 is a great choice because essentially when you're in the office you're working a lot around computers and I've noticed in my own personal experience that some of my watches that don't have a silicone hair string become magnetized. It's such a fresh breath of air not having to worry about that with my omega and Tissot

Wow, that Mido! Much respect for their commitment to quality but I don't always find myself too drawn to their designs. This multifort looks like it could have cost ten times as much, easily my favourite from Mido, and one I would go for in the dressier every day style!

Great series, Teddy. It would also be cool to see a series suggesting watches for specific activities/pastimes/pursuits (beyond the obvious big categories like diving). For example: I do a lot of motorcycle touring. On a two-week motorcycle trip, I tend to focus on the ride and the landscape and lose track of what day it is. So I find it helpful to wear a watch that’s quickly and easily legible, and that has a day/date display. Other considerations are size (it shouldn’t be too bulky under the sleeve of my jacket and glove gauntlets, but also shouldn’t be silly small on my big fat wrist), cost (don’t want to risk an expensive watch on a potentially adventurous trip), and lume (helpful to be able to read the watch in the tent in the middle of the night). I’ve ended up with a Hamilton Khaki King auto as my touring watch. For the smaller-wristed, a Seiko SNK would be a great choice. I’d love to see what suggestions come up for other kinds of everyday use cases.

If the Casio Duro is too big for you and you want a "Multi-situational" "beater" you could get the Invicta 37.5mm prodiver for less than $60. It's very slim, the case is actually somewhat more retro style and less submariner/oystercase, has a solid link bracelet (hollow end links and pressed clasp but its really nice for the price)

The Seiko SARB035 is my all-purpose dressed up and office watch. Neutral white dial, a minimalist-but-elegant sculpted case design, reasonable water resistance, and 38mm, so it’s the perfect dress watch size for my wrist. Since 2020 lockdown, spending less time at the office and more time at home, I’m now more picky having less occasion to go out wear a timepiece. I have my routine now: 😅 - dressy-Monday - vintage-Wednesday - casual/tool watch-Friday ... and finally I just keep that routine at home or I won’t wear much my watches. Bronze and pilot are also a good pick for my casual-Friday. 👍 And Zenith is now on my radar for a dress option. 😎

Interesting video. For my multi situational office role I settled on a seiko Snzg13. It’s the perfect tool looking watch that isn’t flashy and cheap enough not to worry too much about potential dings. Would have loved the Hamilton version but couldn’t justify the price and then the worry about wearing it in a dangerous environment.

I’ve been rocking my Hamilton aviation khaki pilot “cooper” these days whenever I pop into the office (shirt/tie) and as a daily while I work. Great all rounder and fits under a cuff. As long as you don’t have tiny wrists it doesn’t wear big and is very functional w/its day/date complication. The datejust only comes out for more formal occasions, but in general for a daily I don’t feel like I should be wearing a much “higher end” watch than my boss as a rule of thumb.

Tissot Gentleman's Powermatic 80 is a good everyday driver choice, however, I think you missed out on the 1-watch collection ---> Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra. I have 8 watches in my collection, including the aforementioned Tissot, a Breitling, a Hamilton Batman Diver as well as some Orient and Seiko Presage /5 choices, however, since I've gotten the Omega about 3 years ago - all others collect dust and have not been worn. I wear the Omega (on the stainless steel bracelet - w/blue dial) everywhere. Office, at home, evening out, golfing, swimming, hiking, biking, skiing... It'd such a comfortable, versatile and easy wear - and tough as nails. IMHO, it can't be beaten for price/value and sadly, missing from this video.

Teddy, may I recommend a video talking watches for jobs that shoot the gap between very rugged and very professional use? I know you allude to this often, but it would be cool to see some very specific examples some times too! I’m a fighter pilot in the Air Force, and in the cockpit my watches need to be matte styles, very strong, and easy to use. Other jobs I could see looking for the same thing as me could be other military jobs that work outside, a construction project manager who does both job site work with blue collar types and more formal business meetings, or even just someone who spends a lot of time working on their house after work or doing woodwork in the garage and doesn’t want to baby their timepiece. For my job outside the cockpit, you are an officer wearing an olive drab flight suit and leading airmen. Your watches need to match this unchangeable outfit and I try to shy away from anything blatantly “rich guy” (think a modern Rolex sub in it’s obvious, flashy splendor as a no go for most of us). Finally, we love heritage, and obviously have lives outside of work where we can wear whatever we want. An IWC Big Pilot 43 in black looks like a dead ringer for me, I also have an Oris Big Crown Pro Pilot that works great for this. At night or if I am going straight from the gym to fly, I wear a Garmin Fenix 6 that is frankly the most practical option due to hacking and lighting, but is very annoying to have to charge. I also wear a Tudor Black Bay 58 on days I’m not flying, but it doesn’t really fit the part in uniform so I wear it on off days more often. The Sinn U-1 (although not aviation based) would be a legit option too I bet. Much prefer the back of the FP Journe than the front. Ridiculous the price of it when you see what you can get from jaeger le coultre for a 10th of the price!

just a question, how do you find any of filippo loreti watches, do they worth a shot to be office & everyday usage? Is this a brand that is good to consider?

The Omega Deville's fill a nice Business/Business Casual roll nice in house movement with a well known Brand and compact enough to slip under your cuff, you can usually fine one in the 2800-3200k range. Love the Milaguss but good luck finding one at Retail Price probably have to pay 12-15k to land one today and that's too much. Great content as always.

I was just able to get an OP 41 at retail price maybe you could get a milagauss if you get lucky. I have always thought the devile is a really awesome looking and underrated everyday wearer.

I really want to get a Longines Dolce Vita. I find them much more appealing that the Cartier Tank (speaking only for my personal taste in watches).

Has anyone heard of Crafter Blue Hyperion watch ?? I’m still new to the watch game and it seems cool I just want to make sure the guy isn’t trying to rip me off if I decide to buy it. Is it like a micro brand ??

You should have a look at the Seiko Alpinist remake, the only Prospex having no diver's look. The SPB289J1 looks stunning, for instance. Also, for static jobs, Quartz movements might be a good option, so any high-end option here?

I used to work at two different vape shops (ASM at one store and SM at another) and no way would I feel comfortable wearing an Oris or Omega to work... I'd be afraid that I would too soon be parted with them forcefully...

@@dandc2011 I live in rural England, know most of the nefarious locals and I've never been in a situation where I've thought I could be robbed...the average vaper in the UK is female in their 40s so I'm not concerned about theft ( that's what insurance is for anyway ) Thanks for your comment mate 👍🏻

Anyone that can tell me a good place to get the Casio Duro in Europe (not UK due to Brexit)? Can't find them here in Sweden and buying from the US would entail shipping, VAT and most likely customs. So quite cost prohibitive given the base cost of the model. Love the look though so any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the great video. I miss in your videos the unknown (small manufacturers) who build great watches. I've been into automatic watches for a while now. I have found some interesting manufacturers. There are to name: SINN the series of Instrumentelle watches NOMOS the family of Tangente models LACO especially the FRANKFURT GMT and the pilot watches in bronze. Mühle-Glashütte SEA-TIMER and PANOVA BLAU I also love the design of the pilot watches. It does not always have to be a diver's watch. It doesn't always have to be a watch from one of the big manufacturers. My favorite Grand Seiko, but is currently not financially possible for me.

Hi Teddy, curious here do you think the Muhle Glashutte S.A.R. Rescue timer would be able to stand a beating, I know the price tag is high, but if it can handle rough treatment it might be a great choice? Just curious on your take on it's robustness...... Also would you be willing to do a comparison video on the Oris Aquis 200 and the Longines hydro conquest???
