Red Star is one of the companies making the watches with seagull chronograph movements, I think they’re based in Hong Kong but not completely sure. They make a very cool chrono similar to the one you’ve shown but also with a moonphase, the movement is a seagull st1908 and can be purchased online for 250 to 300 dollars. Incredible bang for the buck.

My first automatic watch is one I’ve bought over two months ago, and I’m still loving it. It’s a skeleton watch that I was able to get for $80 (on sale). It’s the fossil privateer. I personally love how beautiful it is, I stare at it every day
@cooloutac Жыл бұрын
I absolutely love that skeleton look its my favorite. I also have it in my Fossil Modern Machine watch. I paid full retail $250 and it came with a fake crown and fake bracelet but I still kept it. Only other one I saw being sold at the time was on ebay with a scratched glass for $138, or on chrono24 for $135 missing too many links. You also see that same skeleton movement in a couple kenneth coles, michael kors and diesel watches. Whom i believe fossil manufactures some watches for all of them. The left side literally looks like a chain dangling down through a bike deraileur. Every part of that movement has different finished metals to separate all the different levels for the viewers. And whats messed up my friend, is we probably won't see this movement design in anymore watches. Because covid and smartwatches have pretty much killed the industry. Fossil is focusing on smartwatches now themselves and its been rough for them. The only new interesting thing fossil has in their current lineup is the Bronson automatic, which pretty much pales compared to their previous years everett. And I think they pretty much just want to charge for a made in japanese label which morons like teddy will eat up. When really, imo, the chinese made watches they have like that everett automatic (which is not as good looking as the privateer or modern machine aesthetically) are much more beautiful especially on the display back compared to their current japanese model.

The only problem (if you would call it that) is that if you buy the Seagull 1969 with a swan neck regulator and column wheel, is that all is good until you come to service it. Then, if done in a western competent watch repairer, then due to world wide economics it is cheaper (by multiple factions)and more practical to put the old watch to bed and buy a new piece. Chinese manufacturing of an ongoing model have the advantage of high, stable and long production runs!! Mind you, it gives aspiring watchmakers a cheap shot at working on a marvellous movement. I personally love them.
