When it comes to making recommendations to people looking to get into this world, I don't actually recommend a specific watch or brand. Rather, I recommend they set themselves a budget of $500.00 or less and get themselves a nice dress watch from Tissot, Citizen, Seiko, Orient, and so forth. Then I recommend they wear it for a while since dress watches in my opinion dress down just fine and see if it is a source of joy for them. If it is, then they can go from there to see how deep they want to go. If they find that the luxury watch world is not for them it still works out alright since (1) they get their answer, (2) that answer cost them $500.00 or less as opposed thousands, and (3) they have a perfectly wonderful watch to wear for formal occasions such as weddings, interviews, business meetings, and so forth.

I'm not sure a one watch collection is possible because by nature it is us asking for our watch to be everything just like in an unhealthy relationship. My snowflake doesn't need to be dressy and sporty and this and that. It is now just my snowflake and I love it more than I ever did before --now that I have additional watches.

@bigj3243 ай бұрын
I don't know about that. I've been trying to get a Datejust 41 for over a year now. I check in monthly with two different ADs but they keep saying they have not gotten it and are looking out for it for me. Perhaps it worked out for you but there's still many that are having no luck getting one.
@polysyllobic3 ай бұрын
Careful my dude. A lot of guys in the comments who let their AD have a night with their wife/girlfriend for the privilege of buying a piece of wrist jewelry are going to be VERY upset at you for saying something less-than-positive about the brand name they’ve chosen to base their personality around.

Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.

My personal choices per brand: Rolex - Submariner (124060; I personally don't like the Sub Date) Omega - Speedy Moonwatch in Black, Aqua Terra or Diver 300 IWC - Mark XX, Portofino or Ingenieur Grand Seiko - Anything with self-winding Spring Drive Tudor - BB58, BB54 Longines - Conquest series or Zulu Time Breitling - not yet sure because I'm still not familiar with the brand Cartier - Tank or Santos.

Why most watch in this list is automatic?
@dandanplaneman3 ай бұрын
I feel like brands haven’t been making manual wind only watches as much. Which is a shame, I’d rather have a thinner watch than have automatic winding.
@MrPleers3 ай бұрын
Because most mechanical watches are automatic ones, I guess. Personally I like both handwound and automatic ones. (wearing a handwound watch as I speak.) But it seems most people want automatic.

Why would buying a luxury watch also mean that you would be a collector and buy more watches to start a collection? 🤷🏻♂️
@115DELDE3 ай бұрын
watches, as much as people do not want to admit it are not popular. The common man or woman isn't going to buy a watch above 200€ or $200. So if a person decides to spend OVER 1000€ on a watch (entering the luxury territory). You first of all, know about the brand, and second of all like watches enough to buy an expensive watch. As for wanting to collect more, well. I for example wasn't a watch enthusiast, I'm still of a novice. However, after doing some homework, as I wanted to buy my very first watch as a present for my Masters degree, I landed on a Seiko (presage cocktail time to be exact). I liked their philosophy as well as overall price range. And after a few months after my puechase, I really want to get another watch, and Im not a watch guy. This doesn't happen to everyone, obviously, but still.

I can't find better watch for me than the New Tudor Black Bay 36mm. Perfect everyday watch, changing style with the strap casual/sport/dressy. New in house caliber, COSC, 70h PR, several sizes and colors, new T-fit clap micro-adjustment on the fly, confortable with a feeling of quality. At that prize, it's the best value for money IMHO: Perfect for a first luxury watch.
