Ordered mine, I love the Khaki Field Mechanical but was worried the 38mm would be too large for my wrist. Would have loved a smaller mechanical version but think that quartz works really well for this type of watch! Ladies who love Hamilton, we got a 33mm! 😂Appreciate the lower price point as well.

I think I prefer this dial to the dial on the mechanical. This dial is less cluttered without the 24hr numbers. Also being a Brit - the railroad track appeals to me as this is the style that has been used on British military field watches. I will visit a store this week to get a look in person.

I'll eventually buy a 33 mm version for two reasons: 1. The tip of its minute hand penetrates the chapter ring; easy reading, and 2. I've been wearing a 32 mm watch for the last 4 weeks and am used to that size.

Just ordered the 38mm black dial / green strap. Quartz is perfect for me and suits my lifestyle with having to rotate the watches I wear for work and when not at work. I love the dial, I'm from the UK and the railroad track dial and overall look of this watch is very similar to the WW2 Grade II Military Hamilton.

Agree here, not sure how a modern field watch can have less than 100m. I have also read negative reviews of the 50m rating on this case. Condensation collecting inside after some rain etc.

@@fraserp2377 My Marathon GPQ is rated for 30m, but I've been swimming in the sea and river with it few times already. I think that rather than using 100m ratings as the minimum, we should look more carefully at how accurate each manufacturer's ratings are reflected in real life. As a mil-spec supplier, for example, Marathon rates at 30m because that's what the gov't spec asked for, but you can rest assured that they overbuilt to ensure compliance.

They only needed to add a screw down crown and it would have had a water resistance of whatever. This is a watch to push you into a more expensive offerings. Also... no antireflective coating for the sapphire. Underwhelming release for casual crowd. Also that quartz mov is like $5.

@@Stanjara I think that’s a bit unfair. It would have been good to have 100M, but if the 50M is actually 50M that is further than 99.9% of the population will go. As for it being a quartz, that movement is the far superior movement type for a watch that will be used in the field.

Confession: I don't generally get the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical love. They look fine, the water resistance is strangely low for a 'proper' field watch. And they're expensive. *But* I've never worn one and trust they feel as great to wear as so many say. It's weirdly kept me curious about trying one at some point. HOWEVER, these new models look absolutely beautiful to me. More or less my ideal field watch dial design - less really is more for me. Gotta say the price raises the same eyebrow as usual though.

Likely to buy one, I really like the style and as a female with smaller wrists the 33 mm size is perfect. I was actually shopping for vintage ones in a similar size recently and would prefer to get something in new condition so I know it will work for a long time.

Just order this beautiful new black and khaki 38mm from the offical Hamilton website cain't wait to try it. Great value for money. Same quality build... more beautiful and slicker dial with better and shorter 45mm lug to lug compared to the 47mm on the mecanical version. Plus better accuracy and longevity... its a win at this price!

I might pull the trigger on this. The quartz has a killer dial compared to the hand-winding one (yes I am not going to call it mechanical lol). If I think about a long run, this quartz version is more reliable, cheap for servicing and can wear until my old age. But if Hamilton release the hand-winding version with the same dial couple months later then I have to buy both😂

They need to come out with a smaller version of Khaki Field Mechanical. Smaller than the current 38mm which wears more like a 39 due to the annoying long lugs. I sold my 38mm because of that. I am dying to get my hands on a 33 or 35/36 version of a Khaki Field Mechanical. @teddy maybe next time you visit their factory you can tell them that lol

The price is wild if you compare to the Seiko SCXP155; this is 34mm with very good quartz timekeeping, low battery warning and 150WR. This hamilton should sell for 175GBP maximum.

I was in the market for a new field-style watch, and had planned to purchase a Hamilton. I live in Lancaster County, and have always been interested in the history behind Hamilton. In the end, I bought a Vaer S3. I wanted a quartz watch around 36mm with a screw-down crown, sapphire crystal, AR coating, and decent water resistance for around $200. I really loved the look of the Hamilton but it couldn't match the specs of the Vaer, and it was over double the price.

I think that at this price (and lower) there are more competitive options out there: Citizen Garrison and Though lines, Bertucci, Marathon, Vaer and CWC, to cite some.

I have 33mm quartz Hamilton Khaki from 1992. Same khaki logo, dots instead of the railroad track, "12" instead of the triangle, and a date at 3. The main difference is that the 1992 version has a double dome plexiglass, which has a slight lens effect, so it is an easy reader despite the diminutive size, and no reflections. The dial is jet black / deep dark grey. Hamilton service replaced the plexiglass last year for a mere 30€.

Bottom line is this. Super cheap quartz movement stuffed into a Hamilton case and still overpriced means a higher profit margin for Swatch. Hamilton USA was doing the same thing before they sold out.

On one hand the white seconds hand seems like a poor contrast choice, on the other I feel like it would be pleasing in its subtlety. The quartz PRX is very similarly priced, I wonder if they're replicating its success by going for another 80s reboot. This is the closest Hamilton have got me to considering a purchase, finally offering a lug-to-lug of 40mm. Would agree that 36mm + 42mm lug-to-lug would have been perfect, but given the ladies market, I get their decision. All that being said, the price is much more attainable, but still expensive enough to have me reconsidering

I'm super interested but very curious if the long lugs on this are the same as on the Mechanical, where any strap other than a NATO looks weird because all of the exposed skin from the wrist between the watch case and the strap.

I think the quartz lugs are a little bit shorter than on the mechanical (45 mm lug-to-lug vs 47 mm I think I saw in the comments here). Exact same consideration for me

Very nice but if you want absolute military authenticity look at the CWC G10 Quartz - correctly sized, well made, genuine military heritage and perhaps the quintessential military field watch - it a 1-1 reissue of the original and Swiss made at less money than the Hamilton

Even before they shut down, the long term workers were complaining about the corners being cut and the lack of quality. It seems a shame that the Swatch Group has found a way to make a continued success of the Hamilton name when Hamilton themselves could not.

I agree. Not that I'm a stickler for this but when I was watching the second hand move, there were points where it did not line up with the indice and the hand slightly moved moved back and was off. Not sure if that's really common with quartz. I've only ever had mechanical.

Other than nostalga, there's no reason for mechanical field watches. Quartz makes so much more sense. In fact, traditional field watch in quartz has it's place in history as the last ditch effort to keep standard issue metal housing field watch alive, before the military moved on to the G-Shock, and never looked back.

I feel like many recent releases from big brands that this is a lazy release. But that’s just my opinion I’m sure many people like the watch and will buy it.

I just cant justify spending 400 dollars on a quartz field watch when I can walk in to any walmart in America and get a Timex Expedition for 35 dollars. Indiglo is a cool party trick. My whole interest in watches is the engineering of the mechanical movements, but I do own a few Quartz chronographs that i really enjoy. I just dont see the point in spending this much on a basic quartz field watch when the Timex exists.

The Timex is cheaply made - that’s why it sells for 40 bucks. I’ve owned the Timex Expedition. It’s a great looking watch but stopped keeping accurate time about a year after the first battery change, which was 2 years after purchase. When I took it back to have the battery changed for the second time (3 years into ownership), the repairer told me not to bother replacing the battery but instead to just buy a new Expedition. The battery reserve for the Hamilton is at least 5 years, and the watch itself will last for many years due to much superior construction and materials.

nothing is wrong with quartz for me , I'm someone who takes care of his automatic watches and that's why my daily drivers are quartz. i started with a most affordable one that was tissot pr50 , now my daily driver is longines quartz . but still my automatic watches are preferred to me.
