I heard a theory once that the cart seems like a portable version of the cage that he left behind. That he wasn’t ready to leave the cage behind completely just like how he brought some of his burdens as well, and it would make sense as to why he sits in the shopping cart at the end of the video. At the very end, a person wearing white brings a set of white clothing to the cart Nate is sitting in, and places them into the cart. I believe it's a representation of Nate's journey to find Hope. He now has the clothing, and is seeing a therapist to work on his burdens. He is also still searching for the map to Hope. I may be wrong, but this is what i believe is happening... Thank you for your reviews, i always enjoy how others interpret NF's music. It has so much meaning interwoven into it. ♥

Hope was trying to reach out to him way back when. He “chose” to ignore it at that time. He wasn’t ready. I believe that during his search, he knew, he would eventually find his hope. And boy did he. Great reaction!

I don't know if you noticed, but when he said "Grabbin' my keepsakes, leavin' my burdens, well I brought a few with me, I'm not perfect.." at the start of the song, he pointed at the balloons. His balloons are symbolic for the burdens he carries around. Side note: React to Leave Me Alone!! It's a crucial part of the nf journey!

I think the shopping cart is representative of the "cage" from before/ the baggage he carries now. He has a lot of trauma and things that he continues to carry with him and I think the balloons are tied to it as a representation of masking. He literally uses balloons to hide his face at one point in a mv (I forgot which one off the top of my head). But with the bars surrounding where he's talking about balloons it makes sense. Additionally they could be a metaphor for avoidance coping as in if they are not tied down they will float/fly away. I think at the end he continues pushing the shopping cart as a symbol of he's still carrying his baggage with him. In the end I think he sits in it for one of three reasons: 1) He feels he's still struggling to overcome his trauma/baggage and it's become a place to rest because it's what he knows. 2) Part of healing emotional wounds is being able to sit with them and explore them which is part of what he probably does in therapy. 3) It's a representation that he still feels trapped in the cage despite trying to move away from it. He used to make intros to his albums called just Intro, Intro II, Intro III. Ever since the search the first song of the album has the same name of the album and is essentially an intro in the form of a mini movie that sets the mood and gives a glimpse of what the rest of the album is gonna be about that’s why you’re not getting many answers from it the answers will come from later songs. He did the same in Clouds and again in Hope. That’s why we’re so hyped for the new album because based on what we’ve seen in Hope we’ll get a different improved and in a better mindset Nate.

The shopping cart is like the cage from outcast but on wheels basically. You let your mind sit in a cage that you don't want to leave because you get to use to it so it becomes a comfort zone. He needed a solution for bringing his cage on the go and a shopping cart was the answer its metal and full of bars that holds you. It's his comfort zone of being in negativity. Its also a double tho. It begs the question "What is he shopping for so damn far out?" or "Its empty what is it gonna be filled with or what is he looking for?"

In The Search, he talks about voices telling him he's lost. I feel like "Lost" was probably written before The Search, though I believe the video was filmed in 2020 (The Search was released in 2019) and released in 2021 (delayed due to pandemic). I think "Leave Me Alone" is probably cinematically before "The Search", as you see the people in white there. In The Search you see those people again, but at the end, they gave him a pair of white clothes-- which he is wearing in Hope. White NF also has a cameo in "Paid My Dues", which is a single that got included on Clouds the Mixtape along with "Lost". Later on (hope album the WHITE clothing seems to be “hope” but i always took the it to symbolize the medicated option of happiness. In addition to the symbols that others pointed out, I believe that the people dressed in white as well as the unique hoodie he's wearing (zipper on the back) are meant to suggest a mental health facility, seeing as he talks about having a breakdown and seeing a therapist. Given how those in white are organized in the next video as well, I suspect it's a commentary on the nature of that industry, at least in part.
